The only thing Matthew Turner likes to do more than write is to drink coffee as he does. Synopsis

Ferdinand Foy is a mid-twenties Silicon Valley success story. Very successful, in fact. ‘On the fast-track to becoming a billionaire’ kind of successful. He assumes he knows what he wants and wakes up each day as an in-demand CEO everyone wants a piece of: girls, investors, the media…

One morning, as he fights a hangover, he appears on a podcast. Interviews like this are common for Ferdinand, yet this one is different. The devil's-advocate-of-a-host makes Ferdinand think. He makes him feel human, and that maybe he doesn’t have it all figured out. He forces him to ask: why do I want to become a billionaire?

This marks the beginning of Ferdinand’s new life. Yet, before he can live it, he must first discover what he wants to do with it. He takes a sabbatical from his successful tech company to go and find himself.

His journey takes him across the USA and further adrift to Spain, England, Cambodia, Bali and South America. Along the way he meets fellow entrepreneurs, authors and investors (AJ Leon, Kamal Ravikant, Ishita Gupta, Hollis Carter and Scott Oldford, to name a few).

Each person seems to have an answer to a question Ferdinand never thought to ask, beginning with what money and success mean to him. He ventures down a rabbit hole of self-reflection, mindset, limiting beliefs, self-acceptance, trust, spirituality, philosophy and flow.

At first, he’s more confused and frustrated than ever. He wants answers, but nobody seems to have the one he wants. In time, he realises the only person who has that is himself. He must slow down and reflect. He must escape the hustle and stop his self-sabotage.

On his return to America, he experiments with new ideas. From meditation to an ayahuasca retreat, he begins to build a new definition of what success and happiness means to him.

His journey ends in Toronto, at an event arranged by Sol Orwell. During a simple conversation, it sparks a thought inside Ferdinand’s mind. An ‘ah-ha’ moment. He realises the question he needs to ask, and in an instant he has the answer on what he should do next (and how).
