This book shares the story of an accomplished woman that led a miserable life for years, due to a failure to look inside and take care of her mental and emotional health. The author came close to ruining her marriage, the life of her daughter, and her career. Reaching out for help led her on path to transformation. She shares the root causes and specific origin of her limiting beliefs and all the amazing mental hygiene tools that led to her breakthrough.

Where The Flawed Story Began

The author shares all the misinformation she picked up during her childhood years and how assigning the wrong meaning to her experiences, led to many limiting and self-destructive beliefs

Launching The Dangerous and Misguided Rocket

This chapter shows how the true beliefs and intention of the author organized the author's life for her. Although naturally talented, life's process of creating what was truly in the author's mind is made clear.

Laying the Wrong Relationship Foundation

A lack of self-love had a huge influence on the author's relationships. In this chapter she describes the difficulties of her significant other's response and alignment with how she truly felt about herself.

Adopting External Validation Methods

The other sought the approval of others as validation of her worth. She shows in this chapter how an entire decade of her life was lost to her as a result of an ongoing endeavor to seek the approval and acceptance of others in order to validate her worth.

Gifting My Daughter With My Emotional Baggage

The author shows how a close and loving relationship with her daughter did not prevent the transference of her mental and emotional turmoil from playing out in her daughter's well-being.

The Wrong Kind of Conflict

This chapter shows the destructive pattern of handling conflict that was the go to reaction of the author. The challenges created as a result of the lack of skills in this area are shared.

Living on Passive Aggressive Street

Because the author was a habitual approval seeker, she shutdown and did not handle conflict well. However, she played interactions over and over in her mind and was held in bondage by passive aggressive practices. The damage of this practice is described.

Hitting Rock Bottom

The author did not have the knowledge of the importance of paying attention to what was going on in her mind and in her heart. All the previous chapters spanned ten years of her life, that was basically on auto pilot. When the author ran out of fuel, she entered a low point of depression.

Courting Vulnerability

This chapter describes the authors process of trolling you-tube and being influenced by many thought leaders. After about six months, she developed the courage to admit that she was in trouble mentally and emotionally and seek help.

Therapy and Mindfulness To The Rescue

This chapter describes the difficult process of seeking therapy. The author discusses the stigma associated with seeking mental help and how a Mindfulness Specialty Therapist really pulled her through.

Seeing The Light

After six month of working through past traumas and testing faulty assumptions, the author began to strengthen her ego and develop a loving relationship with herself. She describes the discovery of the negative affects her behavior and beliefs was having on her career, parenting, and marriage. In this chapter, the author shares all the tools and practices that she adopted, which led to a complete 360 degree transformation.

Waking Up To Purpose

The author discussing the 2nd most important day of her life, when she discovered that her purpose in life was to share her story and help others that lack the knowledge and tools to practice ongoing mental and emotional hygiene.

1 in 4 individuals suffer from depression. I was one of those individuals. Although there are some cases of depression that need intense clinical therapy and medication, some cases are a result of a destructive story written during childhood or during a difficult time in our life, that was never tested. My audience is a population of individuals that are searching for internal peace but are searching outside of themselves. I want to share my story with this community so that they will be inspired to give mindfulness and self-discovery practices a try, implementing mental and emotional hygiene practices in their daily lives.

Atmosphere Press logo Atmosphere Press

Atmosphere Press is an independent full-service publisher for books in genres ranging from non-fiction to fiction to poetry to children's picturebooks, with a special emphasis on being an author-friendly approach to getting a book into the world. We're professional, honest, and kind.

Here’s what we stand for:

Honesty: because our mission is to be author-friendly, that means always giving honest advice about the ins and outs of the authorial life. We are dedicated to sticking by one of our founding precepts: “if I were the author, what would I want to know?”

Transparency: publishing is rife with dodgy behavior, from predatory vanity presses who promise the moon to traditional presses who make book changes without the author’s permission. We’re dedicated to letting you see the wizard behind the curtain, so you can rest easy that everything’s on the up and up.

Professionalism: with decades of combined years of writing, editing, designing, and publishing experience, our staff knows the ins and outs of the industry, and will be responsive and helpful. And of course, we will only publish books that truly contribute something wonderful to the world.

Kindness: as an author-friendly press, we take the word “friendly” seriously. A good publisher shouldn’t be just a business partner, but should be full of people you’d want to invite to dinner. Whether it be making a good joke or allaying your worries about being an author, kindness is our hallmark.

Making Your Book Awesome: we really can’t settle for anything less. We want our authors and their readers to be blown away when they first hold that book in their hands. It needs to look good inside and out, and feel good to the touch. And, of course, the words need to be top-notch, and our editors are devoted to making that the case.

Birth of Inspiration and Un-fulfillment.

I initially was very happy to have a professional position after college, a real job that required a bachelor’s degree. I’d really struggled through college and having a steady paycheck felt good. But I wasn’t committed to excellence. I wasn’t disciplined in any area. I did the bare minimum, I didn’t put forth the effort to learn the principles, I was late all the time, called in sick, blamed my boss for my shortcomings, spent money foolishly etc. I was very unhappy.

I was convinced that having a husband would make my life better. So I planned a huge wedding, pulled off the happiest day of my life, entered marriage, changed my last name, and still was un-fulfilled. I then thought a baby would make it all better. So I got off birth control and tried for four months to get pregnant. I later found out I was pregnant with a baby girl. As she grew inside of me, I realized I would be responsible for her childhood happiness. I decided I didn’t want her to see a beat down miserable door mat of a mother. So when she was born and I found out about additional infidelities, I packed her up and moved to another city. I begin the single life. I enrolled in graduate school and fought to work full time, take care of her and make good grades. What a difficult time, but I was determined to put myself into a position to show her greatness. I still was very mediocre professionally, barely getting by, very unhappy. I constantly told myself, “If only I made more money and had a higher level position and had a husband that made more money, I would be ok”.

Marlon and I were never truly separated. We still spent time together, we talked about divorce from time to time, but neither of us wanted to call it quits and leave our daughter hanging. So after a year and a half, I quit my job and moved back home. I graduated with my master’s degree during that time period and I constantly applied for jobs on Marlon’s behalf, because I thought an increase in his income would be the end to my problems. He got a job opportunity in Minnesota with a fortune 500 company. I pressured/threatened him into taking it and off we went. At the time, he’d completed his MBA and was working with a good friend to build a medical transportation business. Working as a firefighter provided business owners a great opportunity because of the limited days worked per month. I didn’t realize at the time how damaging it was for him to walk away from his plans, but I’d find out what kind of issues my meddling caused later in life.
