About the author

Notwithstanding the fact that he was also diagnosed around the same period with a condition known as ‘Delusions of Grandeur’, (on top of an already devastating disability known as red-green deficiency) Joshua persevered in his craft, and in 2003, co-wrote and co-directed the digital feature film S11,which has been screened at various international film festivals such as the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival often to stoic acclaim from the few members of audience who turned up.

Heeding the advice of a fan in the guise of a film critic who likened the above-mentioned film to a cheaply-produced Saturday morning children’s cartoon, Joshua then became heavily involved in the Singapore animation scene. He has written for many locally produced animated series such as Nanoboy, Master Raindrop, Zigby and The Exolight as well as international productions such as Robot ARPO, and also helped conceptualize and storyboard various other series.

He is now developing original concepts for TV, film and print through Cerealbox Studios.

The Chronicles of Oujo is our take on the high fantasy genre. We wanted to tell a story about a hero, but not a hero with a destiny, or a history ...  or much of a chance, really. A story of a boy who becomes a hero, not because of who he is, but because of who he becomes. We wanted to create a story for kids that was fun and inspired that spirit of adventure, and with Christmas just around the corner, we wanted to create something you could wrap up and place under the tree. Something kids could rip wrapping paper off in gleeful abandon on Christmas morning. If we reach our funding goal of $5000 by Nov 14th, we'll be able to print the book and get it delivered to you before you can say, "Jingle bells". Not only that, but every preorder of the print book gets you the fully narrated ebook as well. You'll even get the ebook before it goes on sale!

"I've read it. It's beautifully illustrated, thoughtfully written and not to mention funny, entertaining, smart, engaging and great for kids to read and to read to your kids. Heck, I enjoyed it myself, so I'd say it's good for big kids too." Better yet

About the Illustrator

JOSHUA CHIANG is a self-taught illustrator/writer/director and one-half of Cerealbox Studios.

Ever since he successfully sold the only copy of his first original hand-drawn comic-book, The Adventures of Hercules and Odysseus*, to his mother for a meal at the age of nine, Joshua Chiang has been filled with an unquenchable belief that he will achieve greatness in the realm of visual storytelling.

Notwithstanding the fact that he was also diagnosed around the same period with a condition known as ‘Delusions of Grandeur’, (on top of an already devastating disability known as red-green deficiency) Joshua persevered in his craft, and in 2003, co-wrote and co-directed the digital feature film S11, which has been screened at various international film festivals, such as the 9th Shanghai International Film Festival, often to stoic acclaim from the few members of audience who turned up.

Heeding the advice of a fan in the guise of a film critic who likened the above-mentioned film to a cheaply-produced Saturday morning children’s cartoon, Joshua then became heavily involved in the Singapore animation scene. He has written for many locally produced   animated series such as Nanoboy, Master Raindrop, Zigby and The Exolight as well as international productions such as Robot ARPO, and also conceptualized designs and storyboarded for various other series.

Joshua has also illustrated for several books, including his own. Two of his books, Trackless Paths and Javier's Day are sold in bookstores in   Singapore and Phnom Penh where he is now based. He is now developing original concepts for TV, film and print through Cerealbox Studios.

About the Author

JEFFREY LAWRENCE OMAR wrote his first book at the age of five. It was written exclusively on torn-up drawing paper and lovingly penned in red crayon. He presented this first manuscript to his first ever editor, Mom, she approved of the work. He then set about the task of creating a cover, and binding the book in red knitting twine. It was only when he sat down to read his very own first-edition, hand-crafted, hand-bound book that he realised that he'd bound it completely upside down.

Thus began a career where Jeff would end up getting a lot of things completely bass ackwards. Usually it was words. Short ones. Like 'was'. Though there were other things like directing television shows for MTV before getting a degree (as was proper). However, as a result of his spelling-impairment and anachronistic career development style, Jeff cultivated a habit of looking at things from more than one angle&mdashif only in an effort to correct his spelling.

After years spent working as a coffeeboy, copywriter, line producer, and glorified light stand (not necessarily in that order) Jeff ended up writing for a little known show called Nanoboy. It was there that he met Joshua Chiang. The two discovered their love of storytelling was only matched by their love of ruffling each other’s feathers–in other words, the perfect ingredient for a long-lasting partnership. Together they would write many of the scripts for the shows listed in Joshua's biography, and as such does not bear repeating (according to Joshua).

When Jeff is not busy spending his time writing, he is spending it battling autocorrect algorithms, checking Joshua's colour-proofs, and thinking up stuff that makes him giggle.
