About the author

2007 Samuel Goldwyn Award Finalist Kevin Cramer is the proud father of a maniac two-year old girl who will only go down the tallest slides at the park and a nine-year old boy who’s trying to bankrupt him by being good at ice hockey. He’s most likely the only construction worker in Pittsburgh with two master’s degrees and five published books – three of which are about ultimate frisbee, an obscure sport that has put him in the ER in every American time zone. His wife is a roller derby playing tattoo artist, thus rendering anything he does super boring in comparison.

Update #4 - 318! Dec. 1, 2022

Hey everyone,

The campaign ended last night with a final tally of 318 preorders! Going into this whole thing, I had zero idea what a realistic number might be. I had visions of it being shared across the internet and random warehouse workers from Mason City, Iowa going, "Oh hell yes, I need that book," and generating a thousand orders - which obviously was wildly unrealistic. But the way more realistic worry that the whole thing would fall flat and I'd end up with 14, most of which were bought by my dad also loomed large.

It was exhausting. Whatever the level below paralyzing is, that's where my fear of bothering people lies. It's why I'm an awful salesman. I cringed every time I sent an email. "Hey, not sure if you're interested but...." I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of glad this is all over.

In the end, I think I got about 20 orders from people I don't personally know. Which speaks volumes about the folks I do. Honestly, more than getting the book out there, this whole thing showed me exactly how lucky I am to have met the people I've met along the way. It restored my faith in the journey I've taken to get where I am.

I'll be in touch with more updates as we find publishers, sign the contracts, and get the books out to you, hopefully in early 2023.

Off to rip up old carpet and take it to the dump.

Thanks again to all of you,

Cramer
