I have a confession to make: I hate asking for help. I pride myself in being strong and self-sufficient. I want the world to see me as a bad-ass who can tackle anything alone. Plus, I never want to inconvenience anyone or put them out. The most ironic part of this obvious Achilles heel is that my main source of joy in life is helping others. My life's calling has always been to help people see their greatest potential, to listen when no one else will and to care for people when they need it most.
Today, I was reminded why we all need each other. I attended a luncheon where Christian Okoye (former Chief's player) spoke and one of his key messages was profoundly simple, "we are meant to help others." Christian talked about all the philanthropic work he does because he is moved by a strong calling to not ask "why"-but just to jump in and help.
What if we lived our lives in such a way we didn't ask questions-but instead just jumped in to help others? What if we embodied a little more Christian Okoye? I think the world would be a better place.
Today, I'm admitting out loud I need your help. Crowd-funding this book has been hard and scary (at times exhilarating). Tonight, the countdown clock hit 10 days till the end of my publishizer campaign and I still need to sell 137 copies to reach my goal.
Gulp. 137 copies.
I'd love and appreciate a pre-order to keep this dream going. Thank you for being my backers. I couldn't do this without you. You can pre-order my book here: publishizer.com/change-deviants
