Friends and family,
There have been a few very positive developments with A White Rose that I'd like to share with you. First, Patrick Farenga, president of HoltGWS.com and publisher of Growing Without Schooling magazine, agreed to look at my manuscript. He said he was planning on looking at the first chapter, but wound up reading the whole thing, gave me a page of great constructive feedback, and agreed to write a blurb:
"Moving and insightful, this book about teaching and learning is written by a military veteran who is now a public high school teacher. Brian Huskie’s personal stories will grip you, and his thoughts about love, war, and school deserve our serious attention."
He also agreed to forward the book to John Taylor Gatto, the man who was named New York City Teacher of the Year in 1989, 1990, and 1991, and New York State Teacher of the Year in 1991, and who went on to write "Dumbing Us Down", "The Underground History of American Education", and "A Different Kind of Teacher", and who spoke widely on the subject of schooling, education, and self-directed learning.
Also, a few days ago, I met with Donna Liquori, a freelance writer and editor with the Times Union (thank you Olivia Parker for setting that up!). She interviewed me for an hour about the book, which is very promising - I will share the story as soon as its available.
This project is only possible with the support of all of you - the goal is 250 books sold by May 28th. If you know anyone who would find this subject interesting, but doesn't know me or isn't familiar with this work, please pass it on: www.publishizer.com/a-white-ro... or www.brianhuskie.com
Thank you for all your support!
Brian
