How to Survive, Thrive and Transform Through Colorectal Cancer
Are You Shitting Me?! is an irreverent, yet informational play-by-play of how to navigate, understand and plan for surviving, thriving and transforming through illness. Personal experiences of colorectal cancer are few and far between, and the subject itself seems more taboo than talking about sex. This book aims to break down those barriers to healthy conversation.

Hi, Friend!
It's been a bit since I updated you on the progress of my book, Are You Shitting Me?! How to Survive, Thrive and Transform through Colorectal Cancer, and I have lots of exciting news to share!
On November 12, I closed on the house of my dreams. I spent the next several weeks moving stuff from my apartment, and I am still unpacking. I had the pleasure of hosting my family and friends for the holidays at my new house. On a recent Zoom call, one of my coworkers commented on my change of scenery. I realized this particular coworker has seen my scenery change 4 times in less than 2 years. I have worked on this book project in 4 spaces in less than 2 years. Now that I'm (hopefully) through any major life changes for a bit, I am gearing up to finish the book by the end of April, which marks the end of the year I gave myself to get a traditional book deal before self- or hybrid publishing the book.
Things never seem to happen on my time, no matter how badly I want them to or how hard I try. This book is one of them, but I think maybe it's because my story has continued to be written. I've had some after effects, as recently as this month, as a result of the treatment I received for the cancer more than 3 years ago -one of several things I wasn't privy to that I think will be helpful for readers to know. In September, I began seeing someone I've known as a friend for over 20 years. He accepts and loves me just as I am. And just like that, my fears, over how the cancer changed my body and how that would be viewed, are gone. My website guy and his wife had a healthy, baby girl recently, as he was finishing the website I'll use to launch the book and ancillary items, such as the Inconvenience Journal/Planner, note cards, etc. My local printer got hit hard by COVID, but thankfully has recovered. I'm hoping to get the website and ancillaries out there during this first quarter of the year. And finally, one of the publishers from this Publishizer campaign has reached out to me twice since this campaign ended! I think this is yet another guidepost that things are progressing as they should to fulfill what I believe is the purpose of going through challenges - to help others through the same or similar challenges.
Look for more frequent updates going forward. Thank you, again, for your early support and your friendship forevermore.
Much Love, Kim
