Community, entrepreneurship and technology are at the heart of everything Gina does. She runs a number of businesses and initiatives with a focus on providing a platform for women to share tips and resources for success, happiness and work-life balance.
A life story uniquely woven moulded a young girl from humble beginnings to a powerful woman who has since established several successful businesses. She continually empowers entrepreneurs, executives, and CEOs while being a mastermind of networking and community leadership.
Gina Romero went from technophobe to geek when she and her husband transformed her humble garage workshop into a boutique technical solutions company based in Mayfair, London.
Gina's unconventional approach to IT resulted in a lucrative portfolio of small, high revenue clients, including private investment banks, oil and gas, and climate change mitigation companies in a diverse database of over 250 customers worldwide.
After moving to Asia in 2010, she went on to be the Founder of The Athena Network Singapore, Chief Community Officer at Connected Women, Co-Founder at MettaMatch (The Connected Women App), and Executive Board Member at the Singapore Council Of Women's Organisations.
An all-around women activist and real-time connector, Gina Romero uses her years of experience and wisdom for the betterment of others and continues to expand her creative vision into international waters.
Gina believes that professional development and entrepreneurship training should be accessible to all women regardless of geographical location, race, education and financial standing.
A key objective of Gina’s work is to foster the exchange of business and expertise on a local, regional and international level – in conjunction with, and supporting, technology powered social mobility projects.
Working with corporate and community partners, local organisations and government agencies Gina continues to provide initiatives for women-led businesses to strengthen the regional startup and SME ecosystem.
Gina’s passion for helping young women embark on successful careers and entrepreneurial journeys lead to securing funding through the National Youth Council (Singapore) to engage and empower more young professionals.
Most recently Gina will be launching Connected Women in the Philippines, to give women and mothers the opportunity to learn and leverage their experience online to work from home as virtual assistants, working alongside women executives and entrepreneurs for support, guidance and mutual success.
Gina was invited to join the Singapore Women’s Register panel as a mentor in 2011 specialising in the areas of community, entrepreneurship and technology. She was nominated co-chair of Women’s Register Committee in September 2012.
Gina was elected and served as an Executive Board Member of SCWO from 2014-2016.

As location-independent, gig economy workers, women are a growing economic force. Women are quickly catching on to opportunities created by digital mobility and connectivity. Women are harnessing technology to do meaningful work, in the time that suits us and on our terms.
In Connected Women, Gina Romero, women activist and real-time connector who's built and led multiple international entrepreneurial communities, discusses why tech-powered women are perfectly positioned to build profitable, location-independent businesses - and why trends are pointing to women dominating the remote workforce.
There is a gap in technology adoption by women-led businesses. But equipped with the right tools, women become power users with a unique ability to maximize technology to connect, co-create and collaborate. Gina Romero provides solutions to barriers that hold women back from leveraging technology to grow their business.
This book is meant to inform, inspire and equip women to embrace technology to build businesses and launch careers that create impact in communities around the world.
Gina's unconventional life has given her an unusual perspective, coupled with her ability to draw unique insights from the obvious.
Chapters are weaved with anecdotes from her own journey as technophobe to girl-geek. Connected Women humorously illustrates common tech challenges faced by women in business, and shares poignant stories of how embracing technology is a powerful way for women to break through traditional work-life barriers.
A 2014 study of Freelancers in America showed that 34% of the US workforce are working as freelancers. That's around 53 million people who collectively add a whopping $715 billion annually to the economy.
What you might find interesting is that 53% of freelancers who participated in the survey are women. A study by People Per Hour found that women also win more freelance work opportunities than men (58%), and earn 22% more per hour.
Connected Women was written for women entrepreneurs and corporate intraprenuers who want to leverage technology to build profitable, location-independent businesses and careers.
Alongside practical tips for becoming a tech-powered woman, Connected Women also provides valuable insights for companies who want to target this growing business and consumer segment. This book is an essential reading for companies who want to better understand the technology challenges faced by women, and who want to empower women through its adoption.

The future of technology depends on the full and active participation of women and men working together, and it is vital that women are both educated and encouraged to go into the tech sectors.

We Are Connected Women
As location-independent, gig economy workers, women are a growing economic force. Women are quickly catching on to opportunities created by digital mobility and connectivity.
A 2014 study of Freelancers in America showed that 34% of the US workforce are working as freelancers. That's around 53 million people who collectively add a whopping $715 billion annually to the economy.
What you might find interesting is that 53% of freelancers who participated in the survey were women. A study by People Per Hour found that women also win more freelance work opportunities than men (58%), and earn 22% more per hour.
Women are harnessing technology to do meaningful work, in the time that suits us, and on our terms.
If the future is female - then powered by technology, we are a force to be reckoned with.
As connectivity improves, we open up more opportunities for women's economic participation. However, despite rapidly increasing connectivity and its clear benefits, the digital divide is still very real.
According to a 2017 survey by GSMA, women are 38% less likely to own a mobile phone compared to men.
Improving access to connectivity is essential. For women, this opens up wider opportunities for sharing, connecting, working, and learning. When women are connected, they become powerfully active contributors to the economy.
We are connected women. And together, we can drive this change.
