A daughter questions her relationship with her father on his deathbed. Taking a closer look at some of his challenges and his attitude towards them, provides her with greater clarity and a deeper appreciation of her dad. She realises how a homogenous family in a small village in Kerela could have evolved through three generations into a diverse global network of family and friends. 'Dad and I' sold 500 pre-orders by June 13, 2019, was pitched to 14 publishers, and will be published by Koehler Books. Please do check out their cool website.
It's been a great journey but I've been told by John Koehler, President and Publisher of Koehler Books that I am only half way done. I signed the contract with Koehler Books on July 31. It was an easy decision after my 'ZOOM' meeting with John and Joe Coccaro, the Vice President and Executive Editor of Koehler Books. I am enjoying learning about the 'ins' and 'outs' of publishing from these gentlemen who are very aware of my status as a first time author.
When I received the ISBN numbers for the soft cover, hard cover and e-book of 'Dad and I', I felt a mixture of emotions. Whilst I had been waiting for this moment all along, it hit me that there was no turning back. I re-read my manuscript for the hundredth time with just a little dose of paranoia for good measure. :) We are, now, good to go...the process has started, and I am looking forward to the different types of editing soon.
So, what comes next? I'll be working with the design team, who'll come up with a number of book cover designs for 'Dad and I' from which we'll pick 2. Here's the interesting part; YOU GET TO HAVE A SAY on the book cover design. YOU WILL GET TO VOTE. This will help us make a decision as to which to pick unless of course, the poll is split right down the middle. Exciting times ahead...ha! ha!
The tentative publication date is 24 Jan 2020 but I am hoping to bring it forward. I will, in about a month's time, be able to inform you about the Book Party! Yessss...I can't wait to celebrate the launch of 'Dad and I' with all of you!!! You've been such great and patient supporters of my dream...to inspire the world with the story of ordinary silent heroes, like my dad, we meet everyday.
