A collaboration framework from stories of a friend collector.
Gregg Potter, You Fool! highlights everyday events (unintentional collaborations) to examine how we intentionally collaborate with other independent organizations and actors. Assembling a team, delegating roles, creating agreements, hosting meetings, and ending the collaboration are all significant parts of a successful group effort. A component Potter repeats in the book is the need for a facilitator. With the framework in this book, individuals and organizations can examine opportunities to create more impactful collaborations in their lives.
Ended
Hello you beautiful beings,
I want to apologize for the wait. What started as a straight forward process (my assumption) was actually a vehicle that changed the course of the next part of my life. When I announced I was going to turn this book into a reality, the chain of events began to force me to see why I am actually here in this time in history. I'll save you the entire story, but what I now have in front of me is work in Collaborative Intelligence (CQ) at the International Institute on Collaboration (IIonC), two unfinished books, and two books complete, and lifetimes of knowledge.
While sitting in a hammock writing after a long project day with students in Dangriga, Belize in 2022, I realized what I was actually writing was a book telling stories of how different people have taught me lessons in collaboration. That book went to a more formal publisher and still awaits to be finished.
Parallel to that, I launched our collaborative framework course, The Life Cycle of Collaboration. After testing that and teaching it to over 600 people, I realized that it also needs to be a book for those who would rather read than take a course. So I started that.
With two books started, depression getting heavier, and hitting rock bottom in December of 2022, I started to realign and focus on my inner work to change patterns and direction. I went to work on launching IIonC and learning to really love myself. That is when the shift happened.
In September of 2023, I faced my lack of discipline with writing and committed to writing a Thursday newsletter in 2024. The response was bigger than I could have imagined. With all the writing, I bundled it into a book and placed it on Amazon. (You may have seen it. You may have bought it.) I continued into 2025 and now will be launching that book next week. (Cover attached)
Back to you, your support, and my gratitude. Many of you love me and would support me to the end of the Earth. I go to sleep every night sharing my gratitude for you into the heavens. Some of you may not know me and in this, may have thought I swindled you. Please know that was never my intention. The world is in transition and I have been a microcosm of that change. And some of you may have completely forgot you supported this campaign. I have the same gratitude for all of you and thank you for joining me on this journey.
The resolve...
This book will be available on Amazon next week. DO NOT ORDER IT! I plan on sending this book, something I am extremely proud of, to everyone who supported this campaign. It might not be what was planned, but I'm confident you'll enjoy it as much, if not more than, the original plan. Please expect it in late January/early February.
If you believe your address changed since you ordered this book, and/or want to be included in further work with my and IIonC, I invite you to fill out this Google Form. (I'll also email everyone to ensure you see this.)
Again, thank you for your patience, your support, and your love. I look forward to this book being in all of your hands and this loop being closed.
With so much love,
Gregg
P.S. I also want to share that on Thanksgiving this year, I was sworn in as an Ambassador to the City of Cape Town. A role I'm excited about in a place I love so very much.
