Update #20 - 🏅Congratulations, you made it! 🎯 Aug. 12, 2019

Last time I sent you a message I was waiting for printed proofs to arrive before I could make the final approval. The good news is that the proofs looked great. Every adjustment I wanted to make was addressed, and I can finally say that I'm happy with the final product (Both hardcover and softcover). As a result, I sent the final payment to the publisher to print your copy of the book. 🤘🏽- Once I receive the books, the shipping process and book release party will be my only priority..

Some timeline facts about this journey to note:

  • 🎯 3 months - Time it took to conceptualize, scan sketchbooks, recompose and layout the book
  • 🎯 3 months - Time it took to work with my good friend Kate who interviewed me, helped write and edited the book. (Thank you, Kate)
  • 🎯 1 year - Time it took to create and launch my publishizer campaign. (With the continual support and help of Lee Constantine from publishizer. Thank you, Lee)
  • 🎯 30 days - Time it took to run a publishizer crowdsourcing campaign. (Special thank you to YOU because without you and the other 201 supporters of this book we wouldn't have a book. Thank you!)
  • 🎯 1 year - Time it took to contemplate, negotiate, and finally find a publisher to work with. (Thank you to John Koehler from Koehler Books for believing in and backing this slightly unconventional book proposal.)
  • 🎯 8 months - Time it took to work with a publisher, finalize the design, edit, correct, copy edit, and proof the book.

All in all, it has taken about 3.5 years to bring this project to fruition.

So why am I telling you this?|

I think the point I want to mention is about the reality of things VS. the way our social lives are perceived. This journey probably didn't have to take this long, and if I did it again I'm sure I could cut this time down by at least half, but it did take this long because it needed to and that's the truth. This truth, you just witnessed. You actually saw 1.5 out of 3.5 years of it.

My moral here is not to allow the perception of other people's lives to deter you from striving for and accomplishing your own goals, dreams, and life. Don't put a time limit on your dreams; live them and watch them manifest in their own due time.

Becoming an artist has been a dream for me, a dream that started when I was a child. I can finally say, with the proof of this book, that I lived the life I imagined. A life that you'll be witness to through the pages and the drawings contained in I AM HUMAN.

Thank you for taking this journey with me! I'm honored to be walking this life with you and can't wait to share my new endeavors with you....

Your book is in the printing process as of today!
I'll be back with you soon on shipping and/or book opening arrangements...
