As most of you know, I signed my very first book contract with....Wiley/Jossey-Bass Publishers. Throughout my education career, I have read books published by Jossey-Bass, so it's an honor to be on my way to becoming one of their authors. I say "on my way" because there's still work to be done. They are excited about my manuscript, and are already providing guidance on how to take the manuscript to the "next level," thereby increasing readership.
My first deadline is September 14! "They ain't playin' around!"
BTW, the attached photo is me "signing" the contract alongside, my lovely, Kisha (herself a devoted educator). She's not one for the limelight, but I begged her to do this photo with me. Why? Because my life, career, and impact are indelibly intertwined together with her. I have been an educator for 33 years, and this December we'll celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. Without God and Kisha, there is no Irvin Scott: husband, father, grandfather, minister, teacher, choir director, non-profit leader, principal, academic superintendent, chief academic officer, foundation executive, professor...tbd.
In the book, I write about how my personal, professional, and spiritual life are all so deeply integrated. I suspect I'm not the only one for whom that is true.
In closing, now that I have a publisher, we'll keep you posted on the progress and eventual release date. Thanks to all those who have purchased advanced copies via Publishizer and other events!!
