I GOT A VERY NICE SURPRISE EARLIER THIS WEEK!
This past Monday was a national holiday here in Japan: 敬老の日, Keirō no Hi, Respect for the Aged Day. My neighbor brought me a very special gift from the people of Tambasasayama, the traditional rural town where I live with my Japanese wife.
The treats were from the community and the very tasty sake was from the mayor. He even sent a letter of congratulations.
You see, I just turned 75 this summer, so I'm now officially one of those 'aged' persons who deserve everyone's respect. Yay!
I wrote a short story about it, which you can read HERE.Living in Japan is always full of surprises. There are 63 anecdotes and over 500 photos about life in this beautiful part of the world in my latest book, LIVE FROM JAPAN!Please join my adventure. I think you'll like it!
