Synopsis

At least 40% of the population suffers from chronic illnesses which may lead to autoimmune disease. The prevalence of these conditions is likely to increase in the future, as a result of a poor diet, a stressful lifestyle, and not enough good quality sleep. Our biology plays a key role in the onset of these illnesses, but the root of the problem is the unhealthy habit and lifestyle choices that we make - our main contender to health being ourselves which manifests in self-attacking conditions such as autoimmune disease.

In Outsmart Autoimmune Disease, I will explore why as a population we have become resistant to health and how this reveals itself in our body in the form of resistance to various hormones and chemical messengers at the cellular level. When our bodies become resistant to the messages and network that allow it to thrive, our cells become depleted, our energy systems collapse and as a result, our organs function sluggishly.

If we adopted self-care and preventative techniques to improve our own health, we could stop the inflammatory condition pandemic which is infringing the state of our health and longevity. I will offer the reader a journey of self-discovery, as well as nutrition and lifestyle biohacks so the reader has the knowledge and empowerment to overcome these issues to prevent and manage chronic illness and autoimmune disease using their own informed judgments.

I have suffered from autoimmune diseases from 7 years old until my early 30s. I also have a deeper understanding of these conditions through my Biochemistry and Immunology BSc (Honours) Degree, and through my private Nutritional Therapy clinic, The Autoimmunity Nutritionist. Through my personal and professional experience, I have noticed that often the onset of chronic illness is the result of bad choices and a lack of self-love. Once these issues are addressed, and a person feels enabled to make better choices and understands the reasoning of their bad choices, they can take large strides to overcome their issues. Through my knowledge of the immune system, nutrition, and personal exposure, I am able to fuse these 3 branches to take a fresh approach to the prevention of autoimmune disease. We can all outsmart these conditions through knowledge, self-belief, and better choices.

She is also running Masterclasses with Salon Prive Mag.
• Social media accounts - Instagram and Facebook (c. 7000 followers). Author will run a social media campaign with daily posts, stories, and videos focusing on different areas covered in the book. She will also go on as many health Podcasts to talk about the concepts in the book.
• Network with contacts through previous corporate career (c. 1000 LinkedIn contacts). Author will contact all corporate contacts, including the National Basketball Association who she used to work for, to see whether there is an opportunity to promote the book through their wellbeing initiatives.

The book is primarily focused at people who suffer from chronic illness or autoimmune disease, or a person who has a family member suffering from a condition. Autoimmune diseases are on the rise and more and more people are curious about the underlying cause and prevention techniques. As the book addresses both these issues, it will help those who suffer from the condition to overcome and manage their illness using healthy nutrition and lifestyle habits. As the subject matter is a niche market, it might not appeal to a wider audience, although the concepts are relevant for anyone who would like to better their health and increase their longevity.
