This work is a parade of emotions, inspired by the true story of a family much like so many others, until fate struck with a devastating cancer diagnosis in the midst of the Covid-19 state of emergency.

The literary work proposed in this project tells the story of a woman who, after experiencing severe pain that led her to the hospital emergency room, was diagnosed with breast carcinoma with metastases in the liver, spleen, and bone structure. All of this unfolded during the first lockdown of the COVID-19 pandemic, preventing her from being admitted to a public hospital and forcing her to be treated in a private one, which proved to be a colossal expense for the family.
She began chemotherapy treatment but suffered an allergic reaction that caused her skin, nails, and hair to fall out. Transformed into a veritable zombie, she struggled to overcome this phase, and just when she was beginning to recover, she received a new diagnosis of rectal cancer. Everything happened to her. Confined to her room and without family visits due to the risk of COVID-19 contagion, she had to face this scenario without family support, limited to phone calls, messages, and sightings from her loved ones through the kitchen window, as it was on the street that they remained to provide her emotional support. It was necessary to change the therapy and restore her strength, but the metastases gave her no respite and spread to her brain. It was a colossal battle against adversity. She fought like a warrior against everything without hesitation.
A moving true story that I’m sure will serve as an example for many who, unfortunately, will have to face such an illness. Every minute of life counted. The fight was not in vain.
My book details the episodes my sister had to face and the grit and strength with which she did so. It is a testimony of courage, resilience, and fighting spirit that can serve as an example. I was a spectator of her atrocious suffering, her resilience, and everything we faced together. A new face of cancer.
Cancer can affect people of all ages. It is most common in people over 65, but the incidence in people under 50 is increasing. Prostate cancer is more frequent in men over 65, while breast cancer affects more women between 50 and 68. However, the family that provides emotional support to these patients is usually younger and spans a wider age range, from 25 to 50 years old. Therefore, my target audience will be adults over 25, of both sexes.
I received the Lusophone Literary Prize 2025, a certificate of recognition as an author.
With a degree in Marketing Management from IPAM and a postgraduate degree in Strategic Marketing from Brussels, he decided in a more recent phase of his life not to pursue an MBA due to academic and motivational fatigue. He preferred to dedicate himself to writing works in various literary genres and to pursuing hobbies that had been set aside, such as reading and music.
An effervescent enthusiast of emotional intelligence, he is not afraid to express his feelings and emotions in the most naked and genuine way. He is passionate about animals, nature, and the beach, with the sea being his main source of inspiration and serenity. He cannot live without music, and the piano is his musical instrument of choice.
A traveler across four continents, he has wandered through more than 67 countries and 128 cities, where he experienced new cultures and customs that have made him a wiser, more benevolent, and discerning person about the world around us.
And his journey seems to have not yet ended.

The white tiles that adorned the building's walls seemed to foretell a day of morbid, weakened soul, prostrate under the torrent of adversities that would lash us. From the ceiling radiated a graceful light, in multiple points, like an opportunistic fortune teller who immediately recognizes the language. The air retained that scent of wintery spring, sprinkled with the unknown and surprised glances of those facing something dubious and somber.
