About the author

My name is Georgie-Ann Getton-Mckoy. I am an Execution Strategist. That means that I analyze your current resources and circumstances in order to help you build a realistic and attainable plan to execute on your business ideas. 

In my personal life, I'm a mom of 2 and a wife. In my professional life, I'm a serial entrepreneur, community builder, speaker, author, and a Diversity in Tech Enthusiast. I hold a B.S in Business Communications with a specialization in Graphic Communications from Baruch College and a Certificate in Entrepreneurship Essentials from HBX | Harvard Business School. I enjoy learning as well as teaching new and creative ways to find solutions to problems.

I was born in Kingston, Jamaica . At the age of seven, my Mom, two brothers, along with various uncles, aunts, and cousins all immigrated to the US. The majority of my time was spent living in the Bronx, NY but at the age of 15 my mother sent me to live with my father's side of family who resided in Baldwin & Freeport, NY. I resisted the entire move but unknown to me, my life was about to change forever.

The Baldwin Community and school opened my eyes to what I'd only seen on TV thus far - affluent black people who were in upper-middle class or simply rich. I saw the "American Dream" that so many had talked about and it seemed more attainable than ever at this point. I started warming up to this community and they accepted all my ways that in the past were labeled as "nerdy and quirky". I was feeling motivated and welcomed!

Then six months later, I turned 16 and became pregnant while in the 11th grade. At this time, I made a decision that would change the rest of my life. With doubts, fear, shame, and disappointment oozing from family and friends around me, I realized it was time to activate my  "Getting Sh*t Done" aka GSD abilities. 

My life has been a beautiful rollercoaster since. From launching various companies, some failing miserably to others making over $100k, being on food stamps, suffering from depression, graduating college, attending Harvard and much more.  

Now at the age of 23, I have continued to Get Sh*t Done and teach others how to do the same regardless of their resources or circumstances.

My book is relevant because all the cards were stacked against me and with the art of getting sh*t done, I was able to persevere and overcome. My goal is to share this with others and help them do the same.

Whether they are at a crossroads due to some life-changing experience they have a desire to use those emotions to strike change but not sure how or where to start, this book will help them tremendously.

This note is going to be quick and to the point. Here I am at 1:21am on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 FINALLY writing this guide. I started it on November 5th 2016, after I held the very first Get Shit Done summit in NYC. I would write bits in a notebook, other bits in my phone, more bits on post-it notes. Just a shit ton of bits everywhere. No more bits! I have decided it’s time to get in front of the computer and Get This Shit Done!

First, who the heck am I? My name is Georgie-Ann Getton-Mckoy yes, it’s a mouthful, so most people call me Georgie and I’m totally fine with that. I am currently 22 years old, Baruch College graduate with a B.S in Graphic Communications as of June 2017, mother to Cameron and Bryanna and wife to Bryan, Founder of Illicit Mind Inc, Entrepreneur, Diversity in Tech Enthusiast, speaker and last but not least the Queen of Getting shit done.

 Second, why should you read this book? If you want to develop a doer mindset this is the book you read. I’ve had to step out of my comfort zone, push my limits, become super resourceful, and literally reprogram my entire mindset to get where I am today. I want to share that information with you so that you can too. You should read this book if you want to stop wasting time and start Getting Shit Done.

Third, what should you expect? Expect the unexpected! That’s what you should expect. Expect a bunch of grammatical errors, whatever Grammarly free version doesn’t pick up will stay. Expect a bunch of shits, fucks, damns and more, I mean you decided to read a book called The Art of Getting Shit Done so I assume “sentence enhancers” won’t offend you. Expect me to be raw and real, I will NOT be sugar coating anything. If you don’t like the truth, well, wrong book sis.

Fourth, we’ve already wasted enough time. Let’s get this shit done already!
