Greetings to each of you, my first 50 subscribers!
After hitting the milestone of 50 today, I thought it would be a good time to send out my first update on what's happening with this book. First of all, thank you for your interest. I'm hoping that you've subscribed to these updates because you intend to support by pre-ordering The Spy and the Maven as soon as it's available. I can't tell you how grateful I am to you for showing confidence in my ability as a writer, especially for this - my first novel.
(I promise other updates won't be this long, but please bear with me!)
Your support as my (hopefully) first 50 pre-orders is paramount because of the way this campaign is going to run. For those unaware, I'm using Publishizer to gain pre-orders over the course of a 30-day campaign. If I reach 250, Publishizer will act as an agent and pitch the novel to about 50 different publishing companies across the world. If I don't reach 250, there's a pretty good chance I'll have enough funds raised to self-publish - so that way everybody still wins. Honestly, if I don't make a dollar from writing this book and no one ever reads it, it would still have been a worthwhile experience - but hey, I think it's a lot better than that!
So this is where you, dear subscriber, have an important role to play. Have you ever walked past a busker and seen an empty hat or guitar case? Even if they've just started performing, they've probably thrown a few notes and a bunch of coins in, just to get things rolling and to gain some additional interest from the passers-by.
This campaign will work in a similar way. If I can get as many pre-orders as possible on DAY 1 of my campaign (September 1), it will hopefully increase interest from the random Joe Blow on the internet who sees this cool-looking book pop up on the computer screen. Aside from ordering the book, telling a friend about it is the best thing you can do to help.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions (or advice!) on the process (jono.pech@gmail.com). After working on this book for so long, it's been awesome to have the opportunity to finally talk about it. I'm down to my final two or three chapters now, so my first draft is very close to completion. From there, I'll start the important process of rewriting and editing, before handing it over to a second set of eyes for further editing.
Thank you once more for your support - every additional subscriber fuels my drive to finish this book and make it as entertaining as possible.
Have an awesome weekend,
Jono Pech
