Hi everyone,
This is just a little update on the process from here out. I had my first meeting with a Publishizer agent (in Norway) last week and she's getting to work contacting publishers directly to help find the best deal possible. Publishizer's 54 partnered publishers have been queried automatically, but the agent will contact some of them individually to follow up on their interest.
Outside of that, more publishers will be contacted with the book proposal. The goal here is to reach out to more Australian publishers, given the majority of my pre-orders have come from the Aussie market. This will help reduce my costs for delivering on pre-order bonuses, but I think it also just makes sense for me to work with a company close to home.
This might be a surprise to many of you, but the timeline for publishing is a long one. From the day of signing it could even be 12-18 months away if I end up with a royalty publisher, which is the preference. It all depends on their release schedule - they might want to rush it out to fill a gap, but most likely they will want to take their time for editing and marketing.
Your pre-orders might be a separate printing run, so I'm hoping I can get them out to you before the book's official release, but this will depend on the flexibility of my publisher.
I've added more sample chapters as part of my proposal. They're mostly for the benefit of the publishers trying to suss out the quality of my writing. I'm not expecting anyone to read them, but I've essentially kept them spoiler-free just in case you can't help yourself.
It's such a relief to be moving into this stage of the publishing process after a month of pitching and social media marketing. As a successful campaign, it will stay active on Publishizer and available for pre-order until I sign a deal, so keep spreading the word and telling a friend.
Have a fantastic week,
Jono Pech
