Synopsis

My book is about a little boy who's Mom is involved in every aspect of his life. She takes him shopping, goes to school activities, and even plays basketball with him.

He finds out that his Mom is going to have a baby and wonders if she will have time to spend with him.

He wonders if she will still love him!

This Book relates to the attention and love that a child needs when they find out that the mother is going to have a baby and also after the Baby arrives!

This book is related to my personal experience when I was expecting a baby when my daughter was three years old. My goal was to spend time with both children and equally share my love.

Outline

In the beginning of the book a little boy tells about family day at school. He tells the class who his family members are and that his mother spends a lot of time with him. He enjoys Mom's bedtime stories because she acts them out.

In the middle of the story, Mom told the little boy that she has a surprise for him. He imagined what the surprise could be. Could it be a new bike?

At the end of the story, mom tells him the surprise. You're going to have a baby brother or sister! He immediately thinks that his mother's love will change.

Conclusion - Mom reassures the little boy that she still loves him and always will. She gives him a big hug and a kiss .

Audience

The targeted audience for my book is Kindergarten through Third Grade.

Through the reading of my book they can relate and share similar experiences. They will begin to understand relationships and the bond between a mother and her children.

Children usually mimic and often switch places with the characters in a book or a movie. By doing this they will be able to see things from the characters perspective. They will feel this mothers love and the bond between the little boy and his mother. It is as if they stepped in and took the role of the character. They will not only feel the excitement and the happiness the little boy in the story is experiencing, but they are going to relate his experiences to their own.

They will relate to the time mom took them shopping, played games with them, and bought toys for them!

Some will relate to their mom having a baby. They will then begin to understand that mom's love will never change for them. They now have to share with a baby brother or sister.

This is the beginning of understanding what it means to share.

Once they begin to understand that they are not being replaced, they will appreciate mom sharing her love and time, and in turn they will understand the basics of sharing.

This book is not just entertaining but will also be used to better their thinking and understanding.

The book comes alive or has power from retelling the story, talking about their favorite part of the story or a discussion after hearing the story. Children may request that the book be read again once or many times. They will acquire fresh ideas each time the book is read.

Children who read frequently develop stronger reading skills.

According to NCES2, only 53 percent of children ages three to five were read to daily by a family member. Children in families with incomes below the poverty line are less likely to be read to aloud everyday than are children in families with income at or above poverty.

                                                                                                                                                                                       

Promotion

Proactive marketing activities I  will take to promote my book includes sending press material about the book and author to media specializing in children's, parenting, family, grandparents, and education interest.

Book readings and book signings at schools, book stores, and the library will also include marketing activities that I will do to promote my book.

My marketing campaign will be focused on media that caters to buying children's books, such as, parents, grandparents, teachers, and aunts and uncles. These people will actually be buying the books, not the children.

Competition

.Books that are my competition include: What Brothers Do Best By Laura Numeroff and Lynn Munsinger. This book focuses on the ways a brother can be special to his new sibling.

.I'm a big sister, by Joanna Cole and Rosalinda Kightley. In this book, the older sister talks about all the many things that make being a big sister special.

.Olivia: A Guide to Being a Big Sister, by Natalie Shaw and Patrick Spaziante, explores what its like to be the oldest. It also encourages bigger kids to help out with the youngest.

This book is animated with Pigs being the characters.

.Once upon a Baby Brother, by Sarah Sullivan and Tricia Tusa. This book will give a big brother or a big sister ideas and ways not to feel left out.

.Outside Over There, by Maurice Sendak, focuses on the older sibling with complicated emotions.

My book, Will You Still Love Me, starts out with the little boy at school talking about his family at a Family Day Celebration at his school. It gives a detailed description of the relationship and closeness  a little boy has with his mother. It describes the activities and the active role his mother plays in his life.
