Hi All!
I hope this email finds you well and happy.
I had another editorial meeting with Nick this morning.
I had managed to do all my edits and send them off a week ago. I'd also sent through some cover images and actual book covers that I like, which gave him an idea of the aesthetic I'm hoping to achieve.
The good things; Nick has approved a lot of my edits! Whoo hoo! There are still some small items to finesse, but the major haul has been done.
After a revealing conversation, none of the images or book covers I'd chosen were 100% right. And this can depend on the title too, which still isn't finalised. As Nick described this morning, 'We're almost through the ice, we've just got to do a bit more bobbing'.
The creative process is such an interesting one. You can have an image in your mind of where you're going, but what shows up in reality can be entirely different! We always need to stay open to things changing. That's been one of my biggest learnings.
So, title and cover design are what's on the menu at the moment.
I'm heading off on a little holiday tomorrow for just over two weeks. I'm hoping there, with some much needed time and space, some more creative bubbles will surface.
