‘BUNNY BOWLS THEM OVER!’ is the riotous and rollicking tale of Bunny Kapoor and his fair lasses. The thing about Mr Kapoor is that he bowls the maidens over effortlessly. He attracts them by the droves and has to take shelter at times to escape the madding crowd.
Finally after years of meandering and philandering he is faced with the inevitable question. Is Tarana the girl for him or Shivali? One tugs at his heart strings, the other utterly mesmerises him.
Not until Bunny meets Halwa Prasad, a portly villager who laughs earthshakingly and who has the uncanny knack of coming up with sound advice, does Bunny realise what he really wants.
In the midst of all this, Bunny turns cricketer by a quirk of fate, and finds surprising success at the difficult craft of bowling batsmen out. He also trains to be a pilot, albeit reluctantly, at the insistence of the very impressive Shivali Sahi. His parents are none too pleased with his wayward ways but Bunny they love him dearly and Bunny makes amends when he has to.
Somewhere along the rocky road, he ‘facilitates’ the fledgling romance of the head of Fast Track Institute, Diwakar Bhanot and Professor Anthea Gordon. Bunny also spurns with some effort the amorous designs of Tina Singh, a comely Air Hostess, and pairs her up with whiz-kid, Jatin Khanna.
The city of New York beckons and presents Bunny with setbacks at first but soon enough a glimmer of hope emerges. He has to return home on hearing some scary news, but thereafter his luck inexplicably changes for the better. He even lands up with a cushy job that he had never dreamt of bagging.
A popular and much anticipated engagement is in the offing. The unlikely venue of which is the cricket pitch…
1. Bunny in Class
Bunny decides to return to the classroom despite the sparkling successes he has achieved in his short career. He and his girl, Tarana, decide to part ways for a while despite being very fond of each other. The gorgeous Tarana goes off for a year to the United States to pursue a course in advertising.
2. Caught ‘n’ Bowled Bunny!
Our man goes for a walk one morning and chances upon a cricket match which he proceeds to watch from the side-lines. A fielder gets injured and the fielding captain Rocky Singh summons Bunny to field in his place. Impressed with Bunny’s athleticism he asks him to bowl the last over. The rule that prohibits substitutes from bowling and batting is waived off despite Bunny’s protests.
3. Besotted Bunny!
Shivali is such an influence on Bunny that she is able to coax him into registering for a flying course. Bunny learns that she is already an accomplished pilot and he is even more impressed. Her all-round abilities amaze him. More so because he comes to know that Shivali had a difficult childhood.
4. Bunny flies high!
A nation-wide strike by pilots means that the twosome is summoned for emergency flying duty. Bunny is thrilled to be flying for a top airline and does an adequate job, though there is a near crash, for no fault of his!
His former classmate Tina Singh is now a hot-and-happening air-hostess. She is effortlessly the cause of much tension between Bunny and Shivali in the air and on the ground.
5. A change of scene for Bunny!
The cool climes of Birpur in the hills act like a balm for Bunny’s troubled mind. He goes for long walks and tries to sort his dilemma out. Shivali or Tarana is still the question uppermost in his mind.
Halwa Prasad, a plain speaking, quick thinking villager turns counsellor and gives Bunny some sane advice. Bunny takes a liking to the cheery villager who fancies himself with the ladies too, and guffaws loudly at his own jokes.
6. Bunny in New York
The Big Apple is new territory for Bunny and for a few days he feels lost; especially since Tarana is shocked to see him and shouts at him for having come all the way without intimation. Appalled at her behaviour but refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer, he decides bide his time in the company of his old chum Barry.
What’s worse is that Tarana’s boyfriend Matt is more handsome and charming than Bunny can ever hope to be.
7. Bunny’s in love!
Bunny lands in Delhi and finds that his father had been critically ill but is recovering well. Bunny finds time for some cricket and is happy to meet his chum Rocky and also Shivali.
Tarana arrives at the ground in dramatic fashion having caught a flight on an impulse. They go for a drive in pouring rain and she tells Bunny that she loves him madly. Bunny tells her much the same. He is overjoyed.
