Thank you, my people, for an awesome first day for my book. 33 preorders have been received so far for 45 books. I already have interest from one publisher, and the more units I pre sell, the more publishers are notified. I am going to get busy now and notify the fan clubs of Hayride artists, any music industry contacts I have, and any country or rockabilly music websites. You have done a phenomenal job sharing my post and I hope you continue to do so. Expanding my reach this way is THE trick to this whole promotion, I believe, and I can't thank you enough. Once I get to 100 preorders I will start to get on the radar of some major publishers, and that goal is now in sight. Stay with me, y'all. WHEN I become a world famous writer here soon, we'll have an awesome party here in New Orleans and do it up like the old days!
Speaking of, here is a little known Hayride factoid with ties to a place we know well: In 1949, Hank Williams became a daddy. Hank Jr. was born at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport and, when the bill came, he was more than a little short as the big time hadn't quite hit for him yet. Local restaurant owner Murrell Stansell, Sr. (of Murrell's fame) stepped in for his buddy and paid the bill. Probably kept 'em in Green Goddess dressing and crackers too...! Here's Hank's wife, Ms. Audrey, with baby Randall Hank Williams, Jr. (which is interesting because daddy is Hiram "Hank" Williams, Sr. - go figger!)
