Asher Yaron was born in New York City and spent his early years growing up in Princeton, New Jersey. Asher nurtured his ability to focus while working on Wall Street as a commodities broker and a trader for Shearson Lehman Brothers. His specialty was Precious Metals and Foreign Currency, but his passion revolved around more energetic commodities including coffee.
Asher and his wife, Avara, traveled to Bali on their honeymoon and fell in love with the island, its people and food. Coincidentally, Avara became a Raw Food Chef and Asher a Coffee roaster. After starting their businesses in southern Oregon, they decided to move to Bali on a more permanent basis.
Asher’s coffee roasting business in the U.S., “Wake-Up!” Coffee, was centered around his invention of a commercial coffee roasting machine which he began to manufacture in Bali. Using locally sourced coffee, Asher was able to create a fully green and sustainable enterprise "From the Cherry to the Cup!". Asher named his business F.R.E.A.K. Coffee (Fresh Roasted “Enak” Arabica from Kintamani). F.R.E.A.K. is involved in all stages of production (growing, harvesting, roasting, making, and serving) and Asher has created a system that produces the freshest roasted coffee anywhere while being green, sustainable, and having ZERO waste.
Asher's TEDx talk titled, "What You Didn't Know About Coffee," has 600,000+ views. Asher has written numerous articles about coffee for several international magazines as well as creating a YouTube Channel "Coffee University". His next project: bringing fresh roasted coffee into the home by inventing a home coffee roasting machine.
