It was 7.30am on a Friday morning and Miy’kael Treyford was awoken by his alarm to get ready for school. After bathing and eating his breakfast cereal, he said goodbye to his parents and set out for school. Miy'kael normally walked fast paced and with enthusiasm but today his walk was much slower and laid back. There was something on his mind.

Miy'kael had a peculiar dream and was trying to piece it together. In the dream there was a massive tidal wave, around 100 ft. high. Its height easily covered the buildings and skyscrapers of the city which surrounded it.

He didn’t know where the city was but he figured it was warm and near a major sea or ocean. It was a very vivid dream; Miy'kael could remember the fear of people's faces when they saw the size of the tidal wave, like they had just come face to face with their creator. The tidal wave caused widespread destruction upon impact literally destroying anything in its path and sending the city to a scene of unimaginable wreckage. It was something of biblical proportions.

Miy'kael's mind had wandered to a bible study class about the great flood of Noah and wandered if this was similar to what Noah had gone through. The tidal wave horrendous as it was, was only the beginning; the cause was now the main concern.

Miy’kael could feel the dream with every ounce of his body and remembered something had caused the tidal wave but he couldn’t remember what. He searched the depths of his mind trying to re-piece the dream together, and while in intense concentration crossed the road without checking for upcoming traffic.

Beep, beep. A car braked suddenly only a few inches from Miy’kael’s body as he looked up at the windscreen to see a startled driver. A man stuck his head out of the window.

“Don’t you know how to cross the road? I could have killed you,” he shouted.

“Sorry,” said Miy’kael, his heart pounding at the close call.

“Watch where you’re going next time!” the man said and drove away.

Miy’kael hurried off the road and carried on walking to school.

‘That’s it’ he thought, remembering an object sitting at the bottom of the ocean. ‘What was it? A piece of rock, an asteroid or maybe a human satellite that crashed down?’ It was circular with flat edges that went up into an oval shape at both ends and was covered with peculiar markings that looked like it belonged to native people from a foreign land.

There were red lights placed in perfect location around its midriff. It had two rectangular shaped doors which opened up on the inside and glowed intermittently. This was no rock; it was carefully crafted and massive. It was roughly 50 by 20 ft. and left abandoned on the bottom of the ocean. ‘What was this thing?’

Miy’kael slowly reviewed the dream piece by piece like a jigsaw puzzle. Tsunami, caused by a strange object, lights, doors, strange markings. His left brain was working at hype speed trying to come up with a suitable explanation for this object. Could it be……. a spaceship?  He tried to come up with other explanations but nothing else sounded right. A rock is a rock, this thing was made, this thing was distinct, this thing caused a tidal wave and came out of the sky. It had to be a spaceship.

Miy’kael felt a huge weight lifted off his small shoulders by figuring this out but there was still more to be uncovered. He remembered that there was a rectangular door at the front and around it was a red border which glowed intermittently. Bubbles trickled out of its side. Something was waiting at the other side waiting to come out………………. The doors slowly opened by sliding upwards revealing nothing but empty darkness.

There was nothing to be seen inside. Then one by one, 6 large egg-shaped pods came out of the door and rolled on the seabed to form a perfect circle, as if controlled by a higher intelligence. Then suddenly the ship began shaking, like something even more important was inside waiting to come out. An even bigger pod twice the size of the others popped out and landed in the middle of the circle.

A current passed between each of the pods in a circular direction then each transmitted their energy to the pod in the middle. It was as if they were recharging and transmitting their energy to the big one. The current grew stronger and stronger till finally a large dragon type creature came soaring out of the ship. It was 20 feet long, it had an extremely large mouth and piercing serpent shaped eyes. Eyes that seemed to look right at him as if he was there.

That was the end of the dream. Miy’kael woke up scared, in a hot sweat, and spent the rest of the night awake, his body shaking from what he had just seen.

Miy’kael continued his journey to school and a normal school day went by as expected, the children excited about the weekend. With 5 minutes left till close, Miss Peters decided to give the class their homework for the day and all the children jotted it down in their blue exercise books apart from Miy'kael Treyford.

His parents had liked the name Michael but it was too common. So they named him Miy’kael because it was similar and had a powerful meaning ‘who dares to be like El.’

This name was unique, which was what they thought about their little boy. Miy’kael was a good looking, 9 year old  boy who had long single plaits reaching down to his eyes on the front of his face and his ears at the side of his head. He was thin and had an infectious smile that could light up a room.

When in trouble he used his smile to charm his parents and teachers which often ended up with him being let off and escaping punishment. He would come to learn that his smile would help in other areas too as he grew up.

“Your homework for the weekend is to prepare a one page essay on A4 paper of an animal of your choice. It can be your favourite animal, your pet or an animal you’ve never even heard of before. I want you to include 6 things in the essay; Mary and Angela stop talking and write this down. 1) It’s colour, 2) it’s size, 3) what it eats, 4) where it lives, 5) a surprise piece of data, for example what makes it unique, and 6) why you like or dislike it. You have the whole weekend to complete it so I want good quality essays from everyone, do you understand,” explained Miss Peters.

“Yes Miss Peters,” replied the classroom of 8 and 9 year olds in year 5 of primary school. Miy'kael, had a window seat in the middle left hand side of the classroom, was more interested in staring outside at the nearest tree.

He was wandering how long the tree had been there, 1000 years, 2000 perhaps even 5000 years, and what life would have been like at that time. Then he started to ponder what, (if anything) would have been there before the tree.

‘Was it just an open field or maybe it was used for farming? Perhaps it was once home to a castle, or maybe it could have been a battleground of an ancient war and underneath was the lifeless skeletons of soldiers who were killed in battle?’

Miy’kael had very intense concentration skills even for a boy of his age, but something instantly grabbed his attention. During his daydream a bird had perched upon one of the branches of the tree. It was a brightly coloured bird with blue, red, and orange feathers.

Though it was quite far away, the bird seemed to be looking directly at Miy'kael, and he stared right back at the bird enjoying its fine symmetrical pattern of bright feathers. Miy'kael was so intrigued by the bird that he hadn't jotted down the homework assignment given my Miss Peters.

His selective hearing had only managed to pick up the fact that he had to write an essay on his favourite animal but he missed the 6 questions. He was truly living in the moment.

The school bell rang loudly at 3:15pm to signal the end of the school day! The Starlight school children burst outside the school gates like a migration of wilder beast across an African safari. While packing his school bag his best friend Nat shouted, "Hurry up you slow coach."

"I’m coming," replied Miy'kael.

After packing his school bag and getting ready to leave he looked outside the window again to see if the bird was still there. It was indeed, but it suddenly looked up and flew off into the sky. Miy'kael was last to leave the classroom and said goodbye to Miss Peters.

“I want an excellent piece of homework from you Miy'kael,” she replied. “Your last essay was unfinished and you couldn’t provide me with a good enough excuse.”

“I'll try,” Miy'kael replied shyly.

Miy'kael left the classroom and was accompanied by his two best friends Nat and Harriet, who waited for him outside the school corridor. They were both headed for the Crystal Palace Sports Centre, 15 minutes from their school.

The boys had a Taekwondo class, whilst Harriet had gymnastics. On their way they stopped off at the local newsagents to buy ice poles and sweets. Upon arriving at Crystal Palace they went separately to the boys and girls changing rooms to get ready for practice.

Mike, as he was called and Nat were both yellow belts in taekwondo and had a grading for the green belt in three weeks. Taekwondo was a martial art they both loved and a great way for the young boys to release their youthful energy and burn off the sugar from all the sweets they ate.

Miy’kael was blessed with natural abilities of speed, power and accuracy but was not so good at remembering the patterns. Nat was good at remembering the patterns (called Poomsae in Korean) and making new combinations in sparring, he had the sporting brain. Miy’kael and Nat had been friends for two years now. Nat’s family had moved from Manchester 2 years ago because his dad was offered a new job. Harriet had been doing gymnastics since she was 5 years old and had great flexibility, speed and graceful movements.

After training the children walked home together. Miy’kael received a text from his mum to pick up something from the pharmacy so left Harriet and Nat to make his way there. On the way, he walked past a store called 'All Eyes on Egypt'. He had walked past this store plenty of times before but something made him stop and peer through the windows this time round. He had seen a book in the display section of the store. But this was no ordinary book. It was beautifully designed and colour co-ordinated with lots of symbols, hieroglyphs and fancy writing.

The centre of the book had a picture of a dragon and a spaceship, which matched those in Miy’kaels dream perfectly. It was called, ‘The Spell of Leviathan’. Miy’kael stood there thinking, ‘I dreamt about this at night, now I am seeing it in real life. What is going on,’ Miy’kael thought out loud. Miy’kael only had one option, to go into the store and open the book.

He pushed open the door and a bell rang. In front of the door were some long individual railings which jingled as he walked through. He walked in slowly, his eyes gazed upon all the different posters, books and paraphernalia. Behind the till was a tall dark skinned man with dreadlocks.
