Ended
When I decided to quit my comfortable job 10 months ago without finding another job,I knew I had already taken the first step to give myself the permission to
breakaway and have a long rest, just allowing myself to go to places I had wanted to go, acquiring new skills while meeting interesting people at the same time.
And then came the decision to launch the Little Angels book campaign without even a tiny bit of know-how in the book publishing business, I was eager to use my time, skills and every bit of energy I have to do more to help. I was taking a plunge without seeing the whole staircase ahead of me when I clicked that “Submit” button in the crowdfunding page. The only thing I knew was I didn’t want to allow myself to be just one of the “privileged” and not do something.
I knew there was no turning back once this step was taken. When family, friends and strangers started to pre-order, I realised this was realIy happening and I started seeing “the whole staircase in front of me”.
Now adjusting to a new full time job and back to the daily grind, I fear the age old adage of “Oh, it’s so hard to find time” will slowly creep up on me. I am halfway though the staircase and the full throttle that catapulted me up weeks ago during the campaign is now beginning to make funny little noises like a rusty machine which needs oiling again.
A very supportive friend recently gave me a kind note wondering on the campaign’s current status, did well to also give me a friendly jolt.
Make no excuses, updates should be more regular to keep your backers in the loop. Hence to all the kind supporters, I apologise for not sharing any update since the campaign ended on the 23rd Oct.
I am still trying to get a leave approved in December or January to make a trip to Cambodia to bring back the leather fulfillments from Little Angels.
I am lucky one of the interested publisher is located in Singapore. We are due to meet for discussion this week. Meanwhile another potential publisher is based in the States.
The publishing process usually takes around 12 weeks and likely would not be in time for Xmas. Funds raised from the campaign will be on hold with Publishizer until a publishing deal is finalised.
Meanwhile, I am grateful for your patience and support. I know I am not alone walking up this staircase and I won;’t allow myself to lose sight of the steps ahead of me till this journey is complete.
“Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
