Update #2 - Rogue stars: A new faith Dec. 31, 2019

Dear friends

At the close of the year and dawn of a new decade I write to you.

The best way to predict the future is to build it. For each of us personally and all of us together. For a long time I tried to build a future that was reasonable, predictable and within my control. I suggest an alternative:

This day I wish us all a new beginning. A future where we allow ourselves to be surprised with the understanding that ultimately this reality is a non-zero sum game. A future where we recapture the current moment that was partially hidden to us when we as a species developed the capabilities to conceptualise our experience. Losing ourselves in past or future worries. That starting in 2020 you and I together find a way to dance with joy.

To speak in the words of the immortal David Moore:

Truth is found in paradox and revealed in irony. One of the most sought after states of human experience is that self-forgetting state of flow. A paradoxical state of surrendered discipline as the ineffable Jason Silva shared today.

A beautiful paradox, yet questions remain. What is the thing I should discipline myself in?
What is it I should surrender myself to?

In januari 2020 I will share with you a first teaser from my upcoming book: Losing your mind and coming to your senses, where I lay out a science based bridge that will lead you into greater aliveness. In it I will explain the sensibility of disciplining ourselves in being present to our bodily senses and surrendering ourselves to the feeling of not knowing.

For now I leave you with Jim Carrey's adage:
Hope is a beggar, it walks through the flames, faith leaps over them.

Rejoice. At the precipice we change.
We are in this fucking together.
