I had the worst kind of depression, I had a functioning depression, I looked like everyone else I acted liked everyone else. But on the inside there was pieces of me scattered all over no one heard my cries or saw my tears because……. I’m a man. I’m not allowed to be emotional. So I kept it in and allowed my crumbling life to consume me. So I got tired of feeling this way and sought instruction and direction as to what I was dealing with and how I was feeling and I knew it was a way to get better but the limited resources out in the world discouraged me a bit but I made it in my mind heart soul and spirit to get help and get healed.

Synopsis

Getting men to talk is a struggle to say the least, some men don't know how to express themselves in a manner that can be received. 29 percent of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health because they are embarrassed. 9 percent of men in the US have daily feelings of depression or anxiety, 40 percent men polled said it would take something like thoughts of suicide or self harm to compel them to get help. Finally over six million American men experience some type of depression.

I too have suffered from anxiety, stress, abandonment, insecurities, low self esteem shame, guilt and much more, and when I found myself struggling with these issues I had to make a decision. So I decided to talk someone and get help and it’s not as simple as one would think, because of stigmas we face daily and our reluctant stance to get help. In my book I talk about issues that men deal with daily and how to overcome them, and since men are visual there is a colorized workbook for men to look at. The workbook has questions and answers and a journal to freedom, where men can write about their experiences and their struggles and their triumphs from depression and being able to recognize what triggers these issues and how to combat them. My healing and deliverance came from finding out the root of the cause of the issues of depression that was upon me.

For instance divorce what men go through when we are going through divorce, the beginning which I called the death, which in how the relationship died, how did we get here, from fighting, to finger pointing and to not taking responsibility as being a participant of such a tragic situation in our lives. The middle part I would call the wake, where we assess the damage and are still in unbelief of what has happened and what is transpiring before our eyes. Then there is the funeral of the divorce the finality of it all where the two parties go there separate ways. There are three emotional experiences men deal with during this three wave process, accountability is one responsibility is the second and thirdly losing or at a loss. I been through this not once but twice so I know the ins and outs of divorce from front to back. I know what stress does to a man and I had to learn how to handle stress as a opportunity to grow and learn, and in the book I talk about stressors and why they come and from my experience from failing and overcoming stress it’s about performance. How do I perform when stress comes and my reaction towards it and how do I cope with it.
