Angela Browne

Angie began her career as an English teacher in an urban school in challenging circumstances. She worked at the same school for a number of years (with a brief stint as Head of English at a rural Wiltshire school) before moving into Pastoral roles and developing a passion and skill for working with many of the most challenging children in her school.

Angie began to specialise in supporting children on the periphery of mainstream education and was lucky enough to set up a small school environment to support just these children. Following this she took over the Headship of Pupil Referral Service in South Gloucestershire and then two years ago made a move to become the Principal of one of only four state funded Steiner Schools in the UK.

As a school Principal, Angie's passion for improving school environments to ensure that the children and adults within them thrive, has grown. What has emerged is a wealth of experience in creating schools that support the mental, emotional and physical health of the whole school community.

Angie is currently working with organisations like WomenEd to further develop this work and is reaching out to a broader community of teachers to engage them in a radically different discussion about their wellbeing.
