SEAN BELA (b. 1979) is an American novella writer with a military (Marine Corps) and high finance (Wall Street) background. He became interested in creative writing after coming in first place for a writing contest at The University of Connecticut; where he studied political science. After college, many family members and friends discouraged him from writing because of their perceived financial prospects of the publishing industry for authors. But 10 plus years later, he couldn’t hold in the desire to put pen to paper. When asked why he focuses on science-fiction, horror, and fantasy he says “because they’re the most versatile and though-provoking genres and I just can’t get enough of them…when I turn off my television, I still want to live in those worlds I see on the screen, for good or for bad.” His works generally focuses on the many aspects of futuristic atrocious and probabilities where technology starts running out of control for those who create it. His inspiration comes from the works of Frank Herbert, Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury and Isaac Asimov. Sean is also inspired by vivid images he gets from his on and off again battle with bipolar disorder. These images fuel his curiosity and desire to express himself on paper. Sean Bela lives in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn, New York and has a 7-year-old daughter.
