Cristina DC Pastor is the founding editor of The FilAm, an online magazine and newspaper serving Filipinos in the New York metropolitan area. The FilAm was featured “among the 100 pioneering ethnic media publications in the U.S.” in a 2014 interactive exhibit at The Newseum curated by the Smithsonian Institution.

In 2012, she co-founded Makilala TV, a television talk show produced out of Manhattan Neighborhood Network. The show is aired also on Queens Public Television and BronxNet. She is one of the founders of the Fil-Am Press Club New York.

Cristina has received journalism fellowships from New America Media and Feet in 2 Worlds. She won an Ippies Award for Editorial Writing given by the Center for Community and Ethnic Media, an initiative of The CUNY Graduate School of Journalism. She was also a Plaridel Awards recipient in 2013 and 2017.

In 2005, she published a book, “Scratch the News: Filipino Americans in Our Midst,” which is a celebration of ordinary citizens at the center of extraordinary stories.

A graduate of The New School in 2012, she is a member of the university’s Theta Nu Sigma Honor Society.
