Synopsis

These stories must have been lurking in the collective subconscious anyway. Father Harry has "excavated" several fantastic and "weird tales of the Furth" from the most forgotten times, (namely a forgotten closet). They illustrate the history of the mysterious continent with unforgettable characters and disturbing twists of plot. The stories culminate in the mysterious account and fatal day of the Fall of Nystol. The driving tension in these stories is the pagan outlook contrasted with the new Christian vision. Why did he write them? Father polished up these stories not because of his famous name, but simply because they spilled out of his adolescent dragon-hunting games of the 80s and he had to share them.

How could a great and protected city of powerful magic users which ruled over all the realms suddenly fall to a horde of untaught barbarians from the forgotten rim of the world? The catastrophe led the conflagration of the library towers which had stored all the written works of the entire continent.SIX STORIES REVEAL THE MYSTERYEx-slave Hepthe crosses the Whitehawk Continent researching the crucial mystery of the Fall of Nystol the many-towered wizard collegium. A century later Abbot Cromna collected these classic accounts on his own perilous journey, recounted in the first story. 1) THE NOMADS OF SARDU: Abbot Cromna dares travel across forbidden lands to obtain a forbidden book...but will he dare to read it? AUDIOBOOK2) SAGE OF THE ELDARK: After the Ambush of the Centaurs, the Philosopher Epinanaus retires to the desert to meditate, but he is interrupted by a wandering Christian zealot and they spend days together in the debating over the existance of spirits. In doing so the Christian zealot has a vision of the future in which the future of the World will be changed by the decisions of the Philosopher and the treasure hunt of the Regulian Emperor in the Isle of Harpies.

3) UNDERGROUND TO NYSTOL: a company of soldiers is led by a mad dwarf into the underworld with the promise of sacking Nystol, the wizardic academy of many towers... 4) THE LAST DAYS OF THE MAGI: Hepthe, a condemned prisoner, recounts how the most powerful academy of magic was compromised and finally betrayed by insane ideologies. 5) THE FALL OF NYSTOL: The eyewitness account of the barbarian sack of Nystol (which is depicted in the video above). This is the central drama of the collection, describing in detail the great systems of magic, interior collapse of wizardry, betrayal and conspiracy, and the hero's confrontation of Simon Invernalius, escape of the hero, and final razing of the towers.6) EAGER DOG TRAIL: After learning about the destruction of the wizard towers, Abbot Cromna meets some Barbarians settled in the Canyon of Hermius. The Abbot hopes to bring them knowledge of the truth and of higher things than just eating and drinking. To do this he must enter Arcodon, the mazes beneath Nystol, and recover the Scroll of Illumination. However, a terrifying monster of human technology awaits him: Minogog.

Audience

Who should like these tales? Anyone who loves both epic lore and philosophy, and who can relate to the need to return to the Truth about what is going on in the post Christian apocalypse, who can discern the conspiracies of men, the occult web that weaves its malign influence over the world. I know that I have a strong audience among Catholics and some christians. I would also hope for exposure among those readers interested in a new take on the fantasy genre.
