The Human Movement is not your run of the mill every day fitness book.

In fact, The Human Movement is far more than a book.

It becomes a way of life and a complete paradigm shift to the way we view our health.

We have gone through a time where media is telling us how we should look, what we should eat and how we should think about our bodies.

Our jobs are sedentary and we have lost connection to what physical freedom feels like.

It is time to take our health back - mentally and physically.

Health is so much more than a diet plan and a training program.

A truly healthy individual consistently works on their mindset and continually educates themselves to gain a greater mind-body connection.

They train their mind as much as they train their body.

After working with over 5000 people I have learnt this; weightloss doesn't make you happy.

Unraveling yourself and contributing makes you happy.

It is in the every day moments of playing with your children, hiking to a mountain top for a sunrise or being able to garden without pain.

For years people have told me they want to lose weight or tone up or gain strength but the truth is that this is not what they want. They think this will give them what they want.

They want to play with their kids.

They want to be able to feel confident and comfortable using their body.

They want to feel good about what they see when they look in the mirror.

They want to be able to play on the same soccer team as their 18 year old child.

They want to build memories and contribute.

They think that losing weight will give them this happiness.

This is rarely the case. And I really mean rarely..

Diet plans and exercise programs are only a part of the equation.

It is far healthier to have a beer or a wine with some friends and some good banter than it is to bitch about someone over a salad.

Overall, people were healthier before gyms and diets were around.

Your health isn't behind a diet plan or a 12 week challenge or an arbitrary number on the scales.

It is in what you do daily and how that inches you toward contributing over your lifetime and making memories.

The level of health we require to lead the life we want is actually far more simple than we are sold.

Health is what you think (or at least the thoughts you deem to be true).

Health is understanding what is food and what is food like products.

Health is moving your body in a way that makes you happy long term.

Health is a process - not a number.

In The Human Movement we cover off on the three main areas of health; Movement, Mindset and Nutrition (AKA Move, Mind, Mouth).

These three main pillars unfold into three different tiers of development that, when matched up against your goals, you can measure what it is you need to do in order to live your best life and achieve your goals and not somebody elses.

The book will offer you practical steps to take in all three of the main areas so that not only do you have a physical body to achieve what it is that you want but you have the mental resilience and strength to obtain it and keep it.

This book is more of a 12 month evolution than a 12 week transformation.

We often overestimate what can be done in 12 weeks and underestimate what can be done in 12 months.

That's not to say that you won't achieve results in 12 weeks, its to say that what is more important than results in 12 weeks is progression in 12 month.

If you are ready to not only not only change your body but also revolutionise your life, then this is the book for you.

Aubrey Marcus, Own the day - Own your life

Harper Collins, 2018

Aubrey Marcus, the founder and CEO of Onnit, teaches how one single day of positive choices leads to a lifetime of concrete strategies for better living, optimal performance, and a stronger mind, body, and spirit.

The Human Movement (THM) differs from this book as it has much more focus on mindset strategies for long term success. It is more about every individual adjusting their Health IQ based on their life circumstances with a strong focus on what we call Life PR's which relates to the memories you build in the real world.

Elliot Hulse, King - The 4 layer approach to becoming the strongest version of yourself.

Strength Camp Media, 2015

Elliot gives an in depth and abstract approach to becoming the strongest version of yourself.

THM differs as it has a more practical approach to helping people navigate towards a life that is full of meaning using our unique Health IQ map it can apply to anyone at any time in their life.

Mark Sisson, Primal Blueprint- reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health and boundless energy.

Primal Nutrition Inc, 2009

The Primal blueprint details the premise that you can reprogram your genes in the direction of weight loss, health and longevity by adapting the simple lifestyle practices of our hunter-gatherer ancestors.

THM differs as it has a much more inclusive view on nutrition, movement and training. It also has a heavy emphasis on mental training.

Anthony Robbins, Unlimited Power - The new science of personal achievement.

Simon & Schuster, Ltd, 1989

Unlimited Power is a fitness book for the mind, a step by step of how to perform at your peak while gaining emotional and financial freedom, attaining leadership and self-confidence and winning the co-operation of others.

THM differs with its focus primarly on the three areas of Health IQ which are Move, Mind and Mouth.

Ryan Holiday, The Daily Stoic - 366 Meditations on wisdom, perseverance and the art of living.

Profile books Limited, 2016

The Daily Stoic is a page-a-day guide to living a good life, offering inspirational daily doses of classic wisdom.

THM differs in the sense that although we have daily mental practices recommended, we will also go into other daily rituals such as movement and nutrition with a heavy focus on helping people participate in life.

Tim Ferriss, The 4 hour body - An uncommon guide to rapid Fat-Loss,  incredible sex and becoming superhuman.

Ebury Publishing, 2011

The 4-Hour Body is the result of an obsessive quest, spanning more than a decade, to hack the human body. It contains the collective wisdom of hundreds of elite athletes, dozens of MDs, and thousands of hours of jaw-dropping personal experimentation. From Olympic training centers to black-market laboratories, from Silicon Valley to South Africa, Tim Ferriss, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The 4-Hour Workweek, fixated on one life-changing question:
For all things physical, what are the tiniest changes that produce the biggest results?

THM differs to this book in the way that give people a map that helps them navigate their health their way in a more steamline approach than the 4 hour work week.

Where did it start?

The Human Movement actually came from a concept I had called ‘Training for the Zombie Apocalypse.’

So the better question to start may be where did ‘Training for the Zombie Apocalypse’ come from? (lets call it T4ZA)

No, it wasn’t 'The Walking Dead', 'Dawn of the Dead', 'Night of the Living Dead' or anything dead for that matter. It came from the idea that in today's world it is the drinks we drink, the food we eat, the drugs we take and the way we move or, more importantly, the way we don’t move that is actually eating our own brains. Add that to too many hours watching horror movies or the news (kind of the same thing really), some solid text-neck and arthritis in our thumbs from swiping and we start to realise that maybe the apocalypse isn’t sometime in the future or some fictional narrative, maybe, just maybe, it is happening right here, right now all around us.

You see we are the zombies. Living right now. Well, kind of living. More like existing. Always building a future in anticipation for the future so that when we actually arrive to the future we will prepare for the future. Think about it. living doesn’t happen in the future, it happens right now- around us.

Now this is not to say that you shouldn’t save for the future or sacrifice the present to set up a future. What I am referring to is that there is a high chance that you don’t want to look back on your life and realise you spent it preparing to live rather than living it. There’s a balance which I know varies for each individual and I don’t necessarily have that specific clear answer for you in this book. What I do have for you in this book is a map that you can use to navigate you towards LIVING your best life, a map you can use to train for the zombie apocalypse.

That map is called The Human Movement.

Back in Novemeber of 2014 I was talking to a guy called Stephen Shedletzky who was introduced to me as one of Simon Sinek's students. For those of you who don’t know Simon, go watch his Ted Talk ‘How great leaders inspire action'. When talking with Stephen I shared my concept of T4ZA and he had one bit of advice for me. That bit of advice was passed from Simon to him when he mentioned he wanted to write a book called ‘marketing is a dirty word’. Simon encouraged him to state his title in the positive. Effectively, give it a name that doesn’t just go with the fashions of the day but one that will be historically true and stand the test of time. It was this bit of advice that transformed T4ZA into something with much more meaning and significance.

The Human Movement is about being more human in a world that profits on our insecurities and laziness. Being ‘Human’ can look different for each and every individual and there are a significant amount of differences that attribute to what this can look like for you. One of the most important things to truly understand is that health is a process. What worked for you when you were 20 probably won’t work for you when you are 30 and most definitely won’t work for you when you are 40. Not just from a physical stand point but also from a priority stand point, financial stand point, mental stand point and many other factors.

So understanding this, it is very important to also grasp that this isn’t a 12 week challenge or a fat loss program. This is a continual unfolding and evolving process which is exactly what you are. You are not a snapshot in time. You are continually unravelling and evolving; Because of this, the book will recommend small changes daily that, when built upon over a year, can drastically revolutionise your life.

Too often I have seen people sacrifice progression for results. It is literally 'The Tortoise and The Hare' story. They say that life is short and as true as that is, life is also the longest thing you will ever do. Play the long game when it comes to your health. The short game can be both financially expensive and also emotionally expensive. Keep focused on what truly matters for you and make sure your health enables you to do exactly that.

One of the biggest influences in the way that I coach and educate came from a very powerful lesson I learnt when attending a very dear friends funeral back in December 2016. I am not sure you can really prepare yourself to walk your best friend to their hearse. I know I sure as hell wasn’t prepared. During that funeral, it occurred to me that there really are only two things in life that matter, everything else is just noise. Everything else is just a distraction.

Those two things are:

1.       How you contribute

2.       The memories you make

Alex was 28 when he had his car accident. There were no witnesses and it involved two cars travelling in opposite directions.

At his funeral no one spoke about his couch or his house. They didn’t speak about his bank account or the amount of likes he got on his posts. They didn’t talk about how much he weighed or what he could lift. They didn’t talk about how he came 5th in some weekend competition.

They only talked about those two things.

Alex was both a teacher and a videographer and those that shared stories about him spoke about how he was always first person on set to give a hand moving things and how he was always last to leave. They talked about the social work he did that next to no one knew about. They talked about the memories they had with him and how he contributed to not just their lives but the community as a whole.

They talked about what mattered. Everything else would just be a distraction.

There was another time I was sitting down and talking to one of the Dads that we train at my gym. He had just finished his session and was talking to me about how he was frustrated about not getting stronger. I get that, sure, the issue here was his reference point was another guy from another gym at a weekend competition. I told him it didn’t matter in the long run. I told him that what does matter is teaching his son how to bench press in their garage gym when his son is 16. He didn’t need to get stronger, he needed to refocus what was important and train for that.

Train to build memories. Live to contribute.

Regret is a rough teacher. It only hands us the answers to the lessons long after the opportunity to do anything about it has gone. They say that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. They also say that the second best time is now. The same thing can be said for taking the necessary steps to take control of our health. no matter where you are at in your life, you have the ability to starve off regret by doing small things today that lead you to living your best life. I have seen people turn their lives around at 60 because they had a brand new addition in the family which crowned them a grandparent. They made the decision to make sure that they were remembered for being the grandparent that was still active and still playful.

We are often in pursuit of trivial shit when it comes to life and our health. The truth is that no one cares what you weigh. No one cares how much you lift. No one cares about your likes. Your kids? They will remember you for how you participated in life with them. How you contributed to their development and growth. They don’t care what you weigh on the scales. They want you to be happy, not to yo-yo. Your friends (unless you have shitty friends that make you unhappy or hold you back) want to see you genuinely happy and not faking it because fake happiness is the worse type of sadness.

It is so important to understand that life happens for us, not to us. We get to choose how we want to participate and you don’t build memories from the sidelines. Throughout the book we will cover all of this and more as we navigate what truly is important to you and what mental strategies, physical training and nutrition plans can look like to support your life and goals out there in the real world.

There is only one catch, this book can’t do the work for you. I can’t do the work for you. Your spouse can’t do the work for you. The work is up to you. You have to earn it by doing the process and over time falling in love with the process rather than forcing yourself to do things you hate for some hopeful pay off in a few months’ time.

Since 2004 I have been fortunate enough to train somewhere over 5000 people and have done a lot of the hard work for you. I have learnt the common patterns people fall into that will cause them to yo-yo. I have heard the difference in the language to those who are successful at their goals and those who fall short- again and again. I have learnt that what you gain quickly, you lose quickly. I have learnt that your body is the only place you have to live for your whole life so it is best to spend the time taking care of it then to try and make “renovations” (or worse, a knock down rebuild) later in life.

So, if you are ready, welcome to The Human Movement.

      Hey Anthony,

This was shipped around July last year. I had a look through my emails and I may have missed your address update so your copy would have been sent to an old address.
If you can email me at with your current address and contact details, I will get one shipped off to you this week.

Sorry for the confusion and delay mate!
