Hi, I’m Eve.
I’m five years old.
I don’t say a lot…
but I go on adventures.
I sneak into the living room
and swing on the curtains —
but I’m not just swinging…
I’m flying through the jungle,
I swing through twisting vines,
monkeys waving hello!
“Oh Eve,” Mum smiles,
“what a fun adventure.”
I just grin.
I race upstairs
and bounce on the bed —
but I’m not just bouncing…
I’m walking on the moon.
Rockets whiz by.
Stars sparkle at my feet.
A spaceship swoops down.
Little aliens wave.
Weeeeeeee!
Up we go, higher and higher!
I don’t say a word.
I don’t need to.
I slide across the kitchen floor,
banging spoons and singing —
CLANG!
BANG!
CRASH!
but I’m not just making noise…
I’m leading the biggest band ever.
Lights flash. Crowds cheer.
And I pull my funniest faces.
“Oh Eve,” Mum laughs,
“what a mess!”
I splash paint at the table,
colours everywhere —
but I’m not just making a mess…
I’m painting a castle in the clouds.
Rainbows colour my castle,
and the clouds sing with me.
I splash in the bath —
but I’m not just splashing…
I’m diving under the sea.
Bubbles turn into silver fish,
and my bath toys come alive.
I ride a turtle through coral castles
and wave at a shy octopus
hiding behind the taps.
“Oh Eve,” Mum smiles,
“what a fun adventure.”
I leap across the sofa cushions —
but I’m not just jumping…
I’m crossing a river of lava.
Dragons roar below
as I land on a mountain top.
Explorer Eve strikes again.
Quiet outside.
Brave inside.
Later, I curl into bed.
The house is still.
I don’t say much…
but my heart is racing
from everywhere I’ve been.
Tomorrow…
I’m going again.
