About the author

As a pastor for fifteen years with a master’s degree in Christian apologetics, I am always looking for ways to share the message of the gospel in a way that engages our current culture. Since I was a young teen, I have been writing poetry and music as an expression of my faith. Now as father of three children, I am always looking for ways to pass on our faith to our children. This project combines my theological training, artistic talents and experience as a father into one book designed to engage both children and their parents in a creative and timely way with a timeless message.

'Twas Christmas Night goes all the way back to creation and the fall of humankind and tells the story of God's redemptive plan.  This story summarizes, in a few short lines, how the prophets foretold the coming of the Messiah, how the angel appeared to Mary and Joseph, their journey to Bethlehem, the birth of Jesus, His life and ministry, death on the cross and resurrection from the dead.  Even deeper than the telling of the actual events of the Bible, it explains why these events matter. It tells the reader that God loves them and wants a relationship with them and why Christmas is still relevant two thousand years after it occurred.  With vibrant and captivating illustrations that will engage the entire family and a rhyme with the familiarity and warmth of a Christmas classic, this book tells the most important story that has ever been told.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: When will I get my book?
A: The link to a video copy of the book will be emailed to you this Christmas season. After the campaign is over and we receive offers from publishers, we will select the publisher that is the best fit for our project and begin the process of getting it into print. Our goal is to ship all of the physical rewards (book, Christmas card(s) etc) by mid to late 2024. And there is every reason to think that this is a very realistic timeframe as the manuscript and all its art is complete. While we will make every effort to deliver everything before Christmas of 2024, anyone who has ever backed a crowdfunding campaign knows we cannot promise any hard and fast dates for delivery.

Q: What happens if the campaign doesn’t reach 500?
A: Everyone will still get what was promised to them but we will fall short of the goal of giving the book a larger platform to reach more families across the country.

Q: Why should I back this now rather than wait for it to go to retail?
A: If we aren’t able to get at least 500 preorders it will never make it to retail. By supporting this campaign, you are helping make this project a reality when it otherwise would have never been published. As a thank you for your support, you are also getting special pricing and gifts on Christmas cards and artwork, which will have a MUCH higher MSRP after the campaign ends.

Q: What will be the book’s size, shape, cover, etc?
A: The publisher will determine the book's final design. We have created some sample representations to give people an idea of what we envision the book will look like, but it is impossible to say for sure until we receive feedback from the publisher, who knows what will do best in the retail market. While the publisher may make some content revisions, the book will contain the same story and art you have all fallen in love with.

Q: Why don’t any of the characters have faces?
A: We hope that every child who reads this book knows that Jesus came because He loves them regardless of their ethnic background. As Jesus is telling His story to the children, we want each child to see themselves in the faces of the book. Faceless characters also allow us to use this book to reach other cultures who would be turned off by depictions of individuals' faces.

Sales arguments

  • People will love 'Twas Christmas Night because it has the warmth and familiarity of a Christmas classic with vibrant illustrations that will engage the entire family
  • This book is good for the industry because there isn't really anything like it on the market. There are a lot of secular Christmas books about Santa, Rudolf and Frosty etc... There a few Christian Christmas books designed just for children that tell the story of Jesus' birth. There really isn't any on the market that not only tell how Jesus came but why in a way that is directed to the whole family.
  • This book is important right now because it is a way for grandparents to share their faith with their grandchildren in a non-threatening way. Many kids aren't being raised in the church like they use to. Many Christian grandparents want to share the message of the gospel with their grandkids but don't want it to come across like they are beating them over the head with a Bible. This book will make a perfect Christmas gift and share an important message in a way that will feel welcoming.
  • This book is also important because in a digital age where kids spend so much time looking at a screen, this is an opportunity to help families connect with one another as they gather around and share a holiday tradition that brings them together.

Similar titles

  • 'Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement Moore: Like one of the most famous Christmas books of all time, 'Twas Christmas Night intentionally reminds the readers of the warm familiar feelings of snuggling up around the Christmas tree to hear their parents read to them on Christmas eve. However, instead of the story of why Santa came to their house, it is the story of why Jesus came to earth and why we still celebrate His birth two thousand years later.
  • How the Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Suess: There is something about a story told in rhyme that engages and captures the imagination and has a way of sticking with you for life. How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a poem about a heartless Grinch who first stole Christmas but eventually learned to love. 'Twas Christmas Night, in contrast, is a poem about how Jesus gave Christmas because God so loved the world.
  • God Gave Us Christmas by Lisa Tawn Bergren: God gave us Christmas is the story of how a mother polar bear and her cub could look all around and see signs that God was at work and why He gave them Christmas. Similarly, 'Twas Christmas Night helps parents share with their children the true meaning of Christmas... that God loved them so mush He sent Jesus.

This book is designed for Christian families with children to read together at the holidays.

Advance praise

In our day, the message of Christmas is often swallowed by the event of Christmas. ’Twas Christmas Night syncs Christmas with the message of the gospel for those who most need to hear it: the ones hearing it for the first time. Begin a Christmas tradition of significance by reading this book with your family every Christmas.

- Dr. David Cranford, Former President of the Louisiana Baptist Convention

‘Twas Christmas Night resonated deeply with me as a father, guiding my children through enchanting verses that illuminate the profound truth: Christ is the heart of Christmas. This poem kindles the desire in every parent’s heart to ensure their children embrace the sacred message of love, grace and salvation during the festive season.

- Chad Hensley Husband and Father of 3

I’m impressed and pleased to see this breathtaking presentation - I wish everyone could and would view this - the greatest love story ever told.

Dear Author,

You worked hard to write your manuscript; finally, it's ready to release. You know that expert assistance is needed, but perhaps you didn’t know that it’s no longer necessary to work with a publisher—especially publishers who charge fees to produce your book upfront and deduct more costs on the back end whenever a book is sold.

1106 Design is an author services company. We provide all the editorial and design services you’d expect from a publisher to turn your manuscript into a market-ready book—editing, cover design, interior layout, proofreading, eBook formatting, and more—at the traditional publisher level. Unlike a publisher, we’ll help you obtain print-on-demand printing and worldwide distribution in your name so that you earn, in most cases, several dollars more for every book sold instead of a measly “royalty.”

We’ll customize a package of services to suit your exact needs at affordable prices ranging from $4,000 to $10,000, depending on your manuscript's word count and complexity. And we’ll manage all the intricacies of book production, so you don’t have to. After this one-time investment, every penny of net revenue from book sales goes directly to you, never to us.

If this sounds like a better way to publish your book, I invite you to browse our services, design samples, no-surprises pricing, outstanding customer reviews, and educational articles at

Come with me on a journey before there was time,

and I’ll tell you the story of the first Christmas in rhyme.

‘Twas, the night of the first Christmas and in Bethlehem,

shepherds lay in their fields as they watched their ewe lambs.

When all of a sudden there arose such a shout!

The shepherds were frightened wondering what was about.

Then what to their wondering eyes should appear,

a host of angels, bringing tidings of good cheer.

They said, “fear not! I bring you tidings of great joy!

There will be peace on the earth, from the birth of a boy.

Now go to the stable and you will soon see,

A baby who was born to one day die on a tree.”

So, the shepherds found Jesus on that first noel.

Then they hurried away for they had a story to tell.

Mary pondered these things as she took in the sights.

It was the first Christmas for all. Yes, it was a great night.

So, the night before Christmas we find once again,

we are telling this story again and again.

I pray that tonight you will remember this tale,

of the baby that was born that took on the nails.

So tonight, as we celebrate go take my light.

I wish a merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
