Realizing the profound effects of therapeutic touch on patients' nervous systems and sense of well-being has created a desire to serve with a deeper respect for community, support, encouragement of the human ecosystem, while relating to nature and the macrocosm of life we interact with daily.

Synopsis

In Canada, and indeed most countries around the world, have epidemic proportions of disease, numbers that seem to rise exponentially every year. Heart disease, cancers of every type, worsening mental health challenges, stress and anxiety levels through the roof, coupled with overly accessible non-nutritional food options and over-prescribed pharmaceuticals, addiction, loneliness and isolation in a world teeming with 7 billion people. There is an air of unrest, of stagnancy, of overworked, underpaid, stressed out folks continually close to their breaking point. Epic numbers take stress-leave, sick-leave, drowning in their exhaustion, hoping for a tiny bit of reprieve, desperate for respite.

In this book, we'll explore ways to address the often backwards structure of treating sickness and reframe the common mindset to health maintenance, beginning with a preventative healthcare approach and supportive community systems. Through research, statistics, accounts of intentional communities, ecologically responsible and humanity concerned companies, heartfelt ideas from patients and with the collaborative energy that builds from late-night, somewhat delirious but inspiring conversations, I invite you to engage in this important movement toward actually caring for the wellness of people, animals and the planet. It's an opportunity to dive into several iconoclastic ideas and entertain innovations from several brilliant organizations, communities and people. There can be benefit to using utopian ideals as a starting point for change. Join this journey to stretch the minds and hearts of the Earth population, and find that new perspective contributes to never before thought of ideas, which leads to creating solutions at the same time. Through looking at current systems for healthcare, education, economics, ecology, we'll discuss why change is necessary and steps to take to shift global perspective and implement movement in not only healthcare, but in all of these areas.

Experiential investigation shows, on the issues facing a diverse number of those suffering, people's respective desire for healing and wholeness is common. There is an individual and collective need to feel heard and be listened to. No matter where you go on the globe, everyone is striving for a balance, to do more than just survive, worry about their families, financial situations and sometimes themselves. I've had the unique opportunity to work with, treat, be surrounded by the inner brilliance of, and hold space for thousands of such souls. The consensus of my daily research has been a resounding call for a maturing of the way we are treated and how we treat each other. A genuine aptitude toward prevention versus sick-care. A wanting for moments of stillness within the busy. Feeling ease instead of constant stress. Funding for wellness, education and nutrition, sustainable ecology, replacing toxic food and corrupt corporate control. The list could go on for miles. This is evidence enough to want to challenge our current systems and contemplate a new future of healthcare. This passion to share accumulated knowledge, experience and perspective must be expressed to be able to contribute toward a transition, until a tipping point can be reached. Realized change is of the highest value. The greatest honour and legacy for humans is to give those left behind a thriving chance.

    I’m so proud of you, Kelly. We all need our own song more so now than I can imagine.

    Your message to me came during a time I have been enjoying reflection on a simpler life at Camp FIRCOM. I often go there, mentally, when seeking times of joy and feelings of true community.

    Wishing you the greatest of success in this process and an unwavering drive to realize this dream.

    Recently, i attended a workshop with Author Simon Sinek called : Discover your Why. If you are familiar this this author and inspirational leader you will know he is all about now what we do, but why we do it. This workshop was a deep dive in finding our purpose, which was written for me after many questions in interviews. I want share my why as it was written for me

    Jason’s why:
    To encourage fulfillment and authenticity in others, so that we find reassurances of the natural, purposeful way of living this life.

    So I thank you for giving me this opportunity to add truth to my why.
