Empowering college students to begin conversations about mental health.
Hester Clarke, a spacecraft pilot, crashes a passenger spacecraft on a desert planet, leaving no survivors. He’s left to die in the desert, left alone with his guilt and shame. There is no sign of civilization until he finds the DOME, a mysterious desert civilization that helps people heal.

Many people struggle with their mental health in their daily lives, but our society lets these problems get pushed to the wayside. They’re not discussed, and people who deal with these issues are often shunned—I felt that way when I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression. Though it’s not easy to do, talking helped me in my journey. Even if I was just venting to someone, telling someone what I was feeling helped release the tension that had built up inside. This graphic novel is my way of expressing what I’m feeling as a form of therapy, as well as an invitation for others to start talking about mental health—because, as I’ve found, we can't do this alone.

"Under the dome is an excellent book with a valuable lesson everyone could learn or use as a reminder to help us all manage with struggles in life."
—Joshua Mackey, about Under the Dome
"What an incredible honor to be welcomed into the imaginations of young people, which then becomes the collective memories of adults
—Jarrett J. Krosoczka, about SPLOTCH
Simon first started drawing little doodles in the margins of his notes at school, particularly during boring classes. In sixth grade, he drew and sold mini comic books at school to help raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, to help fundraise money for his brother with Type One Diabetes.
That began His journey into the depths of comic book drawing. Since then, Simon's series "Butcher Bob and the Quest for the Origami Salami" is being sold at all three locations of Vault of Midnight, a Michigan-based comic book shop which was rated the tenth best comic book shop in the country by Travel and Leisure magazine.
He uses comics as a way to express himself and support others, participating in events such as 24 Hour Comic Day and a fundraiser to support the Grand Rapids Trans Foundation. Simon constantly looks for new ways to share his love of drawing. Thanks for visiting and supporting his passion!
