Whee-Teck is a technology consulting partner with one of the big four professional services firm. He has more than 20 years as an information technology professional and currently serves in the executive council of Singapore Computer Society.

He is a leadership coach, where he leads courses at the Strategic Technology Management Institute, National University of Singapore. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor with NUS.

He is also a visual artist, based in Singapore working on a variety of mediums, his favorite being watercolor. Most of his paintings are filled with splashes of bright colors - flowers and urban landscapes are his favorite subjects.

Whee-Teck believes that anyone can learn to sketch and paint. He started painting in November 2011 and has since surprised himself with what he has learnt. He considers himself as one who has no natural talent in drawing and painting. He believes anyone can pick up the skills for themselves – of course with effort and learning the skills.

Due to various personal reasons, he decided to take a year away from work. He pursued his artistic endeavor more seriously and ended up with his first solo exhibition in May 2012. He continued to artistic journey through 2012, where he discovered the Urban Sketching Community. From these experiences, he decided to share his "secrets". Overview - From the Preface

It is often felt that learning ends the moment we graduate from the formal education system. The Adult Learning Architecture challenges this notion by presenting techniques that anyone can use to learn any skill that intrigues them. The ideas presented in this book are based on my own experience learning to become an artist. Some general ideas related to adult learning are also presented that will help you better understand how to function as an adult learner. As I took a whole year out from work (2012), I decided that I’d learn something new, I picked visual art, while I was learning new skills, I was also observing myself and the approach I was taking to learn these new skills. Much of that observations are captured here in this book.

By the end of this book there is one thing that you should never forget – you can train your mind to learn anything. Learning is stimulated when more synapses are generated in the brain. The principles presented in the Adult Learning Architecture will help you create these essential synapses. As these synapses are created, new learning will take place.

I hope that, by the end of this book, you will truly feel empowered to tap into your ability to learn the skills you need to pursue your passion. Learning isn’t impossible. In fact, this book will present you with strategies to develop the motivation you need to learn even the most difficult of tasks. It also presents several websites that offer online learning options. With so many options available, there’s no excuse for you to shy away from learning something new.
