Synopsis

An inspirational and edgy guide for business coaches to ensure your passion is backed by purpose and practicality.

Business coaching parallels the rising trend of entrepreneurship. Never before has there been such a mass injection of business professionals poised to coach the new generation of entrepreneurs.

And it’s not just entrepreneurs who are hiring coaches. The corporate sector is also fueling the industry’s growth. It uses coaches to develop both executives and promising up-and-comers.

In Live Big: A Guide to Passion, Purpose and Practicality, Ajit Nawalkha––one of the world's leading entrepreneurs and business coaches––teaches other business coaches and the entrepreneurial-minded principles and foundational thinking habits that allow one to move from a place of defeat and anxiety to joy and contribution to humanity. Coaches today are starting to realize that your business is your lifestyle and that to make it big in the coaching business it requires a healthy dose of work-life balance.

Ajit reveals these enlightening, no bulls*t principles in bold context. You'll learn how to create a coaching business and a lifestyle filled with freedom and hustle that impact the world and your life in a big way.

This book is your navigation tool, a compass, that you can pick up and find direction to keep moving forward in the context of business and entrepreneurship. The attempt of this book is NOT to give readers a bunch of strategies that may or may not work for you, but instead something that you can read and be inspired by to take your business, and your world, to a whole new level.

Ajit Nawalkha has helped entrepreneurs and coaches build their own businesses and practices. While doing that, he discovered there was no one tactic that helped him make these businesses successful. It's not a four-step system or five-step process. Most of the time, when a business evolved or transcended from one step to the next it was the actions he was taking on a daily basis, and the mindset he had when creating something viable for the future.

That led Ajit to understand that success truly is a mindset, and that these principles are a guide to finding your way in the world today.

Ajit used these principles and thinking habits to help Mindvalley increase its valuation by 300%, going from six figures to over two million, profits by 100%, and revenues by 50%, as well as similar and even better results for the various other companies he works with.

Audience

This book is for business coaches, first and foremost–an industry that is booming. In the last ten years the coaching industry has exploded. Membership of the International Coach Federation has more than tripled. A report by the market research firm IBISWorld at the end of 2014 said coaching is a $1 billion industry in the U.S. alone.

At a time when generations of entrepreneurs in the workforce tie themselves to freedom and view going out on their as a rite of passage to a fulfilling life, business coaches are becoming more relevant, and necessary, than ever.

Millennials are the nation's largest living generation, ages 18-34 in 2015, now at 75.4 million. Which means the global population is poised to reshape the economy. Their unique experiences and ways of thinking and living will change the ways we do business for decades to come.

  • 46% of the Millennial generation are interested in starting a business.
  • 40% believe they are capable having a global impact for change in some way.
  • 7.7 is the avg. number of companies started each versus three to four for previous generations.

Not everyone is an entrepreneur, and not everyone should be an entrepreneur. But more and more people are striving for a new lifestyle than ever before, and the new generations are being nurtured to accept, understand and create a life filled with leisure, freedom and endless possibilities. This is far from easy.

Business coaching parallels the rising trend of entrepreneurship. Never before has there been such a mass injection of business professionals poised to help this new generation.

And it’s not just entrepreneurs who are hiring coaches. The corporate sector is also fueling the industry’s growth. It uses coaches to develop both executives and promising up-and-comers.

Coaching can be a viable profession because barriers to entry are low and anyone can be a mentor and provide value to another business or entrepreneur. Investment requirements are low, and there is minimal regulation of the industry. As a result, the industry has a low concentration with a large number of owner-operated businesses.

This book is a moral, ethical and spiritual-driven compass for business coaches to navigate today's world of entrepreneurship.

Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less

By Greg McKeown

Published by Crown Business; 1 edition (April 15, 2014)

Essentialism offers a systematic discipline for discerning what is absolutely essential so that we can make the highest possible contribution towards the things that really matter. It is also backed by the notion that more and more people and entrepreneurs are having "to manage themselves. And society is totally unprepared for it." Ajit Nawalkha supports this notion, but rather than the pursuit of less to declutter your life, Live Big: A Guide to Passion, Purpose and Practicality is the pursuit of joy to so that we can make significant contributions to our lives and to humanity.

Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance

It shows us how instead, if we're passionate enough and persistent enough, we can get anything we want to happen, and that the secret to outstanding achievement is not talent but a special blend of passion and persistence. Ajit Nawalkha's book, Live Big: A Guide to Passion, Purpose and Practicality takes a similar path with drawing on experiences and stories from his life and others without the interviews of high achievers to fill the pages. Mastering the Challenges of Leading Change: Inspire the People and Succeed Where Others Fail

By H. James Dallas

Published by John Wiley & Sons; 1 edition (6 Nov. 2015)

An insightful guide to effectively leading the transition through change. Like Ajit Nawalkha's Live Big: A Guide to Passion, Purpose and Practicality, this book is based on the author′s own experiences managing change in business and life, rather than presenting case studies about what happened at other companies.

The Freedom Plan: Earn More, Work Less and Be Free

By Natalie Sisson

This book is about making a dent in this world, an impact to help others and to leave a legacy. It's about designing a business that gives you the freedom and lifestyle you deserve and now. It's book centered on Natalie's online program, called The Freedom Plan, which is about transitioning from reliance on your business to a life of freedom and total control. Ajit Nawalkha's book, Live Big: A Guide to Passion, Purpose and Practicality is positioned as a complement to this book and spans the scope of an entrepreneur's life and business to encompass decision making for the modern world, not just building a business to create a life of freedom.

Hack a Habiit

What do you, me, Mark Zuckerberg, Tony Robbins and Oprah have in common?
We’re all a combination of our habits.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a world renowned entrepreneur or the guy who sells cookies at the mall… Develop great habits and watch yourself soar. Allow bad habits to grow and they’ll squeeze all the success out of your life like weeds in a garden.

That’s why it’s important to consciously spend time cultivating great habits.
Just think how your life will change for the better if you drank more water, worked out 6 days a week, read something motivational every morning, woke up earlier or at the crack of dawn, meditated every single day.

These are habits that could change who you are and alter the trajectory of your life. But here’s the thing…It’s one thing to want to cultivate a new habit but a whole other thing to actually manage to make it stick.

Here’s a list of habit-hacks that will help you start and stick to a great new habit:

Habit-Hack #1: Go Micro

It’s great to think big but there’s one big drawback… If you focus on the big picture all the time, you’ll become demotivated with the amount of work that needs to be done before you get where you want to go.

Let’s say you want to work out more and you have a secret dream of “getting to the top of Mount Everest.” This is on your bucket list. It’s a big dream. The only problem is your current reality. You come from work, exhausted and slouch on your couch in front of the TV for 3 hours before heading for bed. You want to workout. You need to workout… But how?

Here’s where your micro habit comes in. It’s the minimum amount that you need to accomplish to move you toward your big goal. Start to workout 10 minutes a day. Every day.

It’s a habit that’s a lot easier to cultivate than running for an hour a day, 6 days a week. Pretty soon, you’ll find yourself increasing the amount of time you spend off the couch and before you even realize it, your workout habit is in place.

Habit-Hack #2: Delete Decisions

Making decisions take a lot of brain power and it’s exhausting. If you’re keen to build a new habit, you need all the mental energy that you can get to kickstart it and then maintain it.

So, look into areas of your life where you can delete decisions and the unnecessary energy that it takes away from you. Maybe you can eat the same breakfast every day. Maybe you can create very specific and effective routine around your bedtime and wake up time.

The more change and brainpower you introduce into the mundane, daily business of life that we all go through, the more energy you waste. Energy that you could use to maintain your willpower and discipline to create a great new habit.

Habit Hack #3: Scrap Slip-Ups

One of the most dangerous pitfalls of trying to start a new habit is that unavoidable moment when you slip-up for the first time. You start to meditate every morning and things are going really well. You maintain your winning daily meditation streak for 3 days. Then 5. Then 15 and 20. Then the inevitable happens. You slip up and miss a day.

This is the moment that separates the girls from the women and the boys from the men. This is the moment when most people will go, “I already missed a day so it doesn’t matter if I miss just one more day, right?” Wrong.

Because you won’t miss just one day. You’ll probably miss the next 100 days. It’s just the way we’re wired.

So what you need to do is sit down and analyse your slip-up moment. What made you miss? Was it that you couldn’t find your iPod with your meditation tune on it? Maybe you were feeling tired or exceptionally anxious?

When you have the answer and you know exactly why the slip happened, take action to make sure it doesn’t easily happen again. Keep your iPod next to your meditation cushion. Get enough rest so you don’t feel tired in the morning or switch your meditation time to the evening when you feel more alert.

Whatever you do, jump back on the horse immediately. Never, ever say “one more day won’t make a difference.” Because it absolutely will.

Our habits make us who we are. Habits are the pillars of our day and the building blocks of our lives. Take the time to choose great habits and find ways to stick to them. You’ll be amazed at how your life changes when you do.

3 Irrefutable Laws of Selling

Selling usually gets a bad rep.

Even though the fact is, without someone selling a solution to someone else, there would be no real progress. Granted, selling has probably gotten its bad rep because many selling methods can seem pushy, or even, kinda sleazy.
But let’s look past the methods. Because there can be hundreds of ever-changing methods when it comes to selling.

What NEVER changes however are these three fundamental laws of selling that every sales professional must know to be successful.

Law #1: All sales are made in the mind of the sales person first

If you observe sales teams, you’re likely able to spot a good sales person from a not so good one, simply by looking at their approach to the product.

If someone thinks his job is to sell the product, then they’re usually pretty bad at it. They “try” to follow the script. They work extra hours. And they start pitching the moment they open their mouth.

A good sales person on the other hand simply gets it. They understand the product. They know exactly whom they should talk to. They create connection, and their communication sounds more like a conversation than a sales pitch.

What’s the singular difference between the first and second sales person?

The second sales person believes that the product is by far the best product for their client to solve the problem they face. He believes that it would be a disservice to their potential client if they didn’t share enough to convince them to at least try the product.

This mindset is what distinguishes him to be a great sales professional.
Now, you might think that this mindset would make the sales professional push harder. No. It does not. It makes them empathetic towards the client’s problems and actually makes them think smarter.

They find creative avenues of approaching the client’s problem in the most unique way — allowing the client to make the right decision of trying the product.

Law #2: All sales are emotional first, logical second

Everyone knows this, but we repeatedly lean on sharing more logical reasons than emotional ones when selling a particular product. Not that logic doesn’t help. It does.

Logic supports your sale by justifying why our potential client should turn into a client. But at the meat of the sale are deep psychological and emotional needs.
This is why sales work. This is why branding works.

Branding is nothing more but an opportunity for companies to take on a personality by which their audience can identify with. Sales are nothing more than a psychological process of taking a potential client from a place of problem or need, to a place of solution.

A sales process may also be visualised as a compounding of desire for the solution (read product). When you buy a car, you are pulled towards it first because you can identify with it. It meets your emotional needs. And it resonates with you and your lifestyle.

After being drawn towards it, the rationale of if it being some kind of engineering innovation mostly acts as the secondary factor to help you make the buying decision.

Law #3: All sales are made by walking your client from the problem to the solution

All sales are solutions to problems and needs. Think about it. When you buy something, you’re either solving a problem or fulfilling a need. Sometimes these needs may not be obvious, but they are deeply rooted in your emotions.

Now, think of how selling can be an effortless process if you simply see it as a journey. You have a potential client, who may have already expressed his problem. All you have to do now is walk him through from that place — to discovering your product as a solution to his problem or need.

Once you get that you will see how every client you approach will be easier to connect to, and easier to pitch to.

Applying these laws to your sales force

If you closely observe the three laws mentioned, you will see that one of the most efficient processes you could add to your sales force (if it does not already exist) is building a customer profile.

Creating a customer profile allows you to:
• Know what problems you are solving.
• Where you can find the highest concentration of your potential clients.
• How to create a sales pitch that will most effectively connect with your clients.
Apply these three laws to your sales team and your own self, and watch your sales soar.
