“The 60s” - A Retrospective on Lost Innocence
A boy’s-eye view of "the 60s" — when everything changed and the certainties of previous generations became suspect and widely discarded. As the tumultuous 60s reverberate into the 70s, Drew is on a coast-to-coast journey through late adolescence, losing his innocence and coming of age as the nation he passes through is doing pretty much the same.

MAPLEWOOD NJ - 1964: the year “the 60s” really began. A childhood idyl in suburban utopia with its time-honored tradition of benign religious indoctrination is cut short when a family crisis precipitates an unexpected move to the Midwest. Frivolities and “fast times” at Andover High ensue in a privileged enclave of the American Heartland. At Michigan State, intellectual curiosity morphs into spiritual yearning, launching a quest further west to the California coast in search of meaningful purpose for a life, quickly approaching the point of no return, at the precipice of adulthood.
Gen Z & Alpha's coming of age now - Boomers and Gen X curious about "the 60s," readers of literary memoirs and journalistic storytelling audiences.
From Lee Stringer’s review of Drew Lynch’s unpublished first novel: “Like Gore Vidal, Lynch has a deft facility for vivifying the drama of history in the novel form. The prose is sure footed ... confident of its material ... the story both classical and biblical in proportion, and the characters large enough to capture our interest.” — Lee Stringer is the author of the critically acclaimed memoir, 'Grand Central Winter’ (USA Today Top-10 recommended & New York Times 'Notable Book’ - now published in 18 languages).
By January '79, Drew was back in New York attending film class taught by NYU professor and author Frank Brady, while writing credited sections of Maxine Brady's book on 'Bloomingdale's' - the followup to her popular, 'The Monopoly Book: Strategy and Tactics of the World's Most Popular Game.'
Dropping out of school for the 2nd time in 12 months, Drew returned to Maplewood in '80 to marry a local girl. Two decades and eight children later, he sold his printing business and began working his way back into a writing life.
A short stint in journalism in the early '00s led to a screenplay, 'Young Patrick of Ireland.' Returning to school (after a 26-year break) Drew earned a degree at Fordam (ReligioPolitics in Antiquity) which informed his first novel, 'I, Patrick — the Lost Letters of Ireland's Best Known and Least Understood Saint,' and now the memoir(ish) experiment in literary nonfiction, 'Losing Our Religion.'

Dear Author,
You worked hard to write your manuscript, and you know that expert assistance is needed to ready it for the market. But perhaps you didn’t realize that working with a publisher is no longer necessary—especially publishers who charge fees to produce your book upfront and "share" more of your revenue whenever a book is sold.
1106 Design is an author services company that has served over 4,000 authors since 2001. We offer all the editorial and design services you’d expect from a publisher, transforming your manuscript into a polished book. But here's the difference: we help you secure print-on-demand printing and worldwide distribution in YOUR name. This means you'll earn several dollars more for every book sold instead of a meager “royalty” and never lose control of your book or your book files.
We understand that your book is not just a passion project but also a potential source of income. No two books or authors are alike. That's why we'll customize a package of services tailored to your needs at affordable prices, starting at $5,555. And here's the best part: after this one-time investment, every penny of revenue from book sales is deposited directly to your bank account, never to ours first.
If this sounds like a better way to publish your book, I invite you to browse our services, design samples, no-surprises pricing, outstanding customer reviews, and educational articles at https://1106design.com. You can download a free PDF of my book, "Publish Like the Pros: A Brief Guide to Quality Self-Publishing and an Insider's Look at a Misunderstood Industry," and request a free, no-obligation consultation.
