Synopsis

The main problem I see today is that most people tend to lack depthness in career exploration -- not to mention the lack of social and professional skills necessary to achieve success in their given field.

There is an old saying, "You don't know what you don't know", that is until you need to know it, and you realize you don't. What do you do then? In short, you can't advance further then what your knowledge will allow.

For example, a colleague of mine once shared with me that when she was growing up she only thought she could be a secretary or a teacher, because that's, essentially, what all women did, at least that's what she grew up to know within her world.

It wasn't until later in her life, when she began to look more in-depth at other possibilities, and was able to make connections with other kinds of people that were not from her local area, that she began to realized there was more out there for her than just those two types of career fields (nothing against those types of positions).

Now, for years, people talked about this idea of going to a "new level" or to the "next level," but over the course of my studies and professional experience, I've found that our pursuits in life should be more directed towards going to a "new dimension" than solely to a "new level," for levels are just one of the variables in the equation of success.

In my new book, I take the idea of a dimension -- that which is made up of height, width, and depth -- and break it down into those three parts as followed:

My collegiate background begins with an A.A. in Criminal Justice and a B.S. in Business Management (Concentration in Small Business and Entrepreneurship). In 2017 I earned my Masters in Business Administration (MBA), and in June of 2020, I was inducted into the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi.

I've spent my working life from the fast-food industry to working in customer service within a call center, to the military and security industry, to running my own business and entrepreneurial endeavors to my most recent post in academia. Within this post I've been commissioned to serve Veterans and Service Members assisting them with career exploration outside of the military, as well as helping them develop the professional skills necessary to achieve success in their new chosen career field.

Sales arguments

• From my experience, most people tend to pursue a career field, not because they enjoy it, but because they think there is a lot of money in that field. With that said, they tend to not understand that money is attracted to the passion and energy that is put into the work. In other words, it doesn't matter how much a job will offer someone, if their heart isn't in it, it will never be enough.

• I have over 4,900+ friends on Facebook.
• I have 2.8K followers/readers on Medium.

My book is similar in the sense that it is designed to help the reader discover their life's work. I just take a different approach to the challenge. In my book, I help close that long dividing gap between one's passion and one's innate talents and skill sets.
• Put Your Dream to the Test: 10 Questions to Help You See It and Seize It - By Dr. John C. Maxwell. Published by Harper Collins Leadership (April 18, 2011). My book is similar in the sense that I am going to provide actionable tips that readers can implement immediately after each chapter so that they can start putting the ideas to practice.

Audience

In conclusion, my new book, Success in 3D, is for those that are unhappy with their professional status in life. They are unhappy with their job, and feel like there’s no way out. My chief aim with this work is to help you identify what your core, high marketable skillset is – where your strength zone is – and what you’re most passionate about; and then how to bridge the gap between the two so that you are finally doing what you were designed and created to do – living your most successful life. In fact, I remember in my youth how much I loved the game of basketball – I even had this dream about becoming the first Hispanic in the NBA. My skills at the game of were average, I played well at the high school level, and I was even able to play some at the college level. However, even though I had some skill at the game, and even though I was passionate about the game, it became real clear that my dream wasn’t going to happen. You see, my skill level and passion were not in alignment, and this what I see quite often in my line of work – and it is time for a change.
