Synopsis

Bo is a happy terrier puppy who loves his family, his toys, and being the center of attention. His world is perfect just the way it is—until one June morning, his family brings home a mysterious box. Inside the box is Arrow, a tiny kitten with a white arrow-shaped stripe on her chest.

Confused, scared, and worried, Bo is unsure if his family will still love him the same. Will he have to share his toys, his treats, and—most importantly—his family’s affection with Arrow?

Through misunderstandings and gentle encouragement from his family, Bo learns that love is not something that divides when shared, but grows. With his family by his side, Bo discovers that change can bring new friendships, more love, and a new adventure.

"The Adventures of Bo & Arrow: When Bo Met Arrow" is a delightful and engaging story that teaches children about friendship, empathy, and the importance of accepting change. With vibrant illustrations and relatable characters, this book helps young readers navigate complex emotions in a simple, heartwarming way. Discussion questions and reflection prompts at the end of the book help caregivers guide conversations about emotions and family dynamics, making this story an invaluable tool for both entertainment and emotional development.

To enhance the learning experience, the book includes an Adventure Kit with Bo & Arrow-themed toys and activities. The Guidebook provides fun exercises, like painting or crafting, to help children reinforce the lessons learned in the story, encouraging creative play and deeper understanding.

This book is for:

  • Children aged 4-8: The story is ideal for young readers who are just beginning to navigate their emotions and understand family dynamics.
  • Parents, caregivers, and educators: The book provides opportunities for guided discussions, making it a valuable tool for teaching children about emotional literacy.
  • Librarians and early childhood professionals: The book’s themes of friendship, family change, and empathy align well with social-emotional learning goals in educational settings.
  • Child therapists: This book is an excellent resource for working with children to articulate and process their feelings about family changes, such as the arrival of a new sibling or pet.

Similar titles

  • “The New Small Person” by Lauren Child: This book shares themes of welcoming new family members and adapting to change. "When Bo Met Arrow" stands out for its unique use of animal characters and its focus on the parallel experiences of Bo and his human brother, Juice.
  • “You were the first” by Patricia MacLachlan: A similar theme of accepting a new family member, but use of animal characters in "When Bo Met Arrow" creates a sense of universality and relatability, allowing children from diverse backgrounds to connect with the story and its lessons.
  • “Julius the Baby of the World” by Kevin Henkes: Similar theme of acceptance, but by drawing on Juice's own story of accepting his twin siblings, "When Bo Met Arrow" offers a multi-layered approach to addressing common childhood fears and promoting empathy and understanding.

Dear Author,

You worked hard to write your manuscript; finally, it's ready to release. You know that expert assistance is needed, but perhaps you didn’t realize that working with a publisher is no longer necessary—especially publishers who charge fees to produce your book upfront and "share" more of your revenue whenever a book is sold.

1106 Design is an author services company. We offer all the editorial and design services you’d expect from a publisher, transforming your manuscript into a market-ready book. But here's the difference: we help you secure print-on-demand printing and worldwide distribution in your name. This means you earn several dollars more for every book sold instead of a meager “royalty.”

We understand that your book is not just a passion project but also a potential source of income. That's why we offer a range of services tailored to your needs at affordable prices. Depending on your manuscript's word count and complexity, our packages range from $4,000 to $10,000. And here's the best part: after this one-time investment, every penny of net revenue from book sales goes directly to you, never to us.

If this sounds like a better way to publish your book, I invite you to browse our services, design samples, no-surprises pricing, outstanding customer reviews, and educational articles at https://1106design.com. You can download a free PDF of my book, "Publish Like the Pros: A Brief Guide to Quality Self-Publishing and an Insider's Look at a Misunderstood Industry," and request a free, no-obligation consultation.

1106 Design has been in business since 2001 and is rated A+ by the Better Business Bureau.  Hearing the commotion, Jaiden rushed in to find Bo on his bed and Arrow hiding. Juice suddenly understood - Bo was jealous and scared, just like Juice had been when the twins were born. He remembered not wanting to share his parents, toys, or space. Juice decided to have a heart-to-heart with Bo.

[Page 9]

Sitting on his bed with Bo, Juice shared his own story. "When my parents first brought the twins home, I felt upset, angry, and jealous too. I thought they were replacing me, so I was mean to the twins and refused to share. But Dad explained that loving the twins didn't mean loving me less. Love isn't something you can only give to one person. It was hard adjusting to this change, but I realized the twins just wanted to be loved and enjoy their home, like Arrow does now. It might be tough at first, but it gets easier, and we all love you just the same."

[Page 10]

Juice's words made Bo feel much better. Maybe having a friend to play with while everyone was at school wouldn't be so bad. He found his favorite ball and gently rolled it to Arrow. Surprised, Arrow looked from the ball to Bo before rolling it back. The two spent hours happily passing the ball back and forth. Bo realized that change could bring good things too, like a new playmate and more love to share.
