Synopsis

As humans, we hope for many things. We hope for our circumstances to change and our businesses to be successful. We hope for equality, justice, and positive change. We hope we can cure disease.

It’s been said that hope is the only thing more powerful than fear. Fear paralyzes you; however, hope is a double-edged sword. If you hope for something long enough and don’t get it, you risk being disappointed or even depressed. On the other hand, if you hope for something and it happens, it can ignite a spark of change that impacts communities for generations.

Dangerous Hope is the guidebook you need to help you navigate the highs and lows of any personal or business endeavor you embark upon. The reader will learn about the Cycle of Hope, which is comprised of the following:

• The first part of the cycle is Dangerous Hope. This is about taking action.
• The second part of the cycle is False Hope. This is what happens when you become passive and start wishing for things instead of actively pursuing them.
• The last part of the cycle is called Hope Deferred. This is what sets in when things take too long and you start to lose hope. Most people get stuck here and do not know how to make setbacks work in their favor.

The goal of the cycle of hope is to learn a lesson that will equip you and elevate you for the next step in your journey. The chapter outline of this book is as follows:

In each chapter, the reader will learn about Anderson’s own journey of going through the Cycle of Hope in regard to her health and her dreams. Stories from other leaders and entrepreneurs will be woven into each chapter as well, including a story about how the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation was started and the Cycle of Hope that was ignited because of it.

In her line of work as a Leadership & Business Coach over the last seven years, Mandy B. Anderson noticed that people really wrestle with hope and disappointment. We get stuck when things get hard and take longer than anticipated. We neglect to realize that disappointment and setbacks are part of the process of starting a new business, leading an organization, or going after any personal endeavor toward great change. Because we aren’t anticipating the hurdles, we aren’t equipped to make them work in our favor.

Mandy B. Anderson has spent a lifetime climbing out of hope deferred to keep thriving as she overcomes a life-threatening disease called Cystic Fibrosis while also building a successful business as a coach and a speaker.
